Better than most pens, even the G2 0.5!
G-2 Fan here. Love this pen, even more than the 0.5 fine line ones I used to get. The 1.0 line is bolder, of course, but also writes smoother. I saw this video online about how great pens are evaluated. One aspect was the tip and if it was scratchy or not. That happened to be the biggest point for me, literally. I looked at my collection of pens--some expensive as heck and some cheap--and realized this simple idea was correct. I tended to like the ones that were not scratchy when I wrote. So forget the $100+ fountain pens. I loved the idea and look. However, they scratch even though you are not supposed to press very hard at all. Then we have some gel pens and ball points that are super loose in your hand and you don't have much control. Sure, the grip/barrel and other parts of the pen matter. But for me, it was how it writes and the scratch factor was it: so simple. Duh! So while I bought a box of Pilot G2 0.5's and coveted them, when I found this old G2 1.0 pen in my drawer, I began to love writing with it more. I had told myself it was inferior to the fine-tip sibling, the 0.5. But no scratch, great ink flow, excellent control, same great barrel, bold line—this is the one. It's all i want to write with now. My handwriting looks better with it and it simply feels better. So try it out. Are you scratching letters into paper, or are you actually gel-gliding along effortlessly? That's the difference and this particular brand, model, ink, and tip does it all! Read more
