Peanut oil is great for stir fry because it does not get smoky when hot. For some reason my local store does not carry it, so I was very pleased to find it here. Planters specializes in peanut products so I trust the brand. It is goid quality and works well for cooking. Read more
Good oil works well for frying or rubbing on my baked potatoes before I pop them in the oven Read more
When you need to fry something at high heat without creating smoke and developing the most delicious flavor, nothing is better than Planter's Peanut Oil. I grew up with my grandmother using this, and have continued her wisdom over the years. You will never fry a more delicious breaded cutlet than you'll get with this oil, MUCH MUCH more flavorful than vegetable oils and not as heavy as olive oil, and with a higher smoke point. It's even good as a substitute for butter in mashed potatoes - try it, you'll be amazed at the flavor this oil packs. Subtle and not overpowering, but distinct and very fresh tasting, it's the best. Peanut oil is the best frying oil! It has a super high smoke point (approximately 448°F), which means that it lasts longer than other oils because it takes longer to "break down". In addition, it's low in saturated fat and is free of cholesterol and trans fat – which doesn't mean that fried food is healthy (just to be clear), but as far as frying oils go, this is the king of all oils! Also noteworthy: According to the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, the process used to make peanut oil removes the proteins responsible for allergic reactions, so it's suitable for people with a peanut allergy. Planters 100% Pure Peanut Oil lasts a super long time without smelling bad or making fried food taste bad. It heats up to high temperatures without burning and fries food super fast without saturating it with oil, resulting in lighter fried food, crispy on the outside and moist in the inside. In our home, we use it mostly to fry potatoes and plantain, and the results are always delicious and light. Some people report a slightly "nutty" flavor; I don't detect anything but the pure taste of the food. A note about the $$$: I've looked for reasonably priced peanut oil everywhere (regular grocery stores, Costco, Indian grocery stores, Chinese marts, etc.) and it's one of the most expensive oils out there. The price on Amazon is amazing! Depending on the size of your fryer, you only need a couple of bottles to fill it, and as I mentioned, it lasts much longer than any other frying oil (especially if you filter or sieve it after each use).
