For a while I have been struggling to take care of my teeth due to a combination of ADHD, depression, and just plain exhaustion. which while I try to at least to the bare minimum has led to a bit of tartar and plaque build up. While I know I need to go to the dentist for a proper cleaning, I will admit I was a bit embarrassed by it and wanted to get a head start on cleaning it up before I made an appointment. Enter this thing. I got this thing today, and I used it as soon as I got it. I was concerned it would hurt, it did not. honestly I barely felt anything more then a little vibration. The noise is not loud, but defiantly ... dental. Very easy to use, and it came pre-charged. The tools that came with it seem to be high quality and the things as a whole seemed very well made. And oh my god did it work well. I used it on the normal setting to start with and it managed to free the biggest piece of calculus I have ever seen (it was honestly disturbing). I didn't even know it was there and it came out so easy and painlessly. Managed to get all the visible spots off my teeth and gumline in one go, still have some staining but so much improved I feel like I could go to the dentist now without shame. Those of us who would even consider something as potentially catastrophic as self-dentistry probably have a good reason, like no insurance to cover a $700 medical bill. And while it isn't a good idea to get medical advice from Amazon reviews, I think it's a good idea to give people pointers on how not to wreck their grill at least. This device works great, it's basically a sonic toothpick or scraper, depending on the bit you use. Much like a sonic knife, it demands you treat it with the caution a tool like this requires. It doesn't require much force to use, the vibrations do most of the work, essentially crumbling the rock hard crud between your teeth on contact. It's very similar to the tool your dentist uses, you'll likely recognize familiar smells, sounds and feelings when using it. The slowest speed is enough to get the job done, practice with it. As you lose the fear of having a vibrating metal pick in your mouth, you can bump up the speed a little to work faster. It helps a lot to know the rough shape of your teeth, this way you can focus the tip of the tool on plaque and not your actual tooth. You can even focus on the "fault lines" between plaque and your tooth to break off larger chunks at once. As the packaging and listing states multiple times, the pick will only activate when in contact with something hard, not your gums. I used the pick today to clean my bottom teeth, and even with no previous experience I managed to not hurt myself. (Keep in mind if you have a nasty mouth you're gonna bleed some no matter what.) I'll also add that the pick seems to have an auto-shutoff feature, so don't be surprised if it powers off while left on the counter for a minute. Even with the safety feature, the pick still requires a steady hand. Just remember to let the pick do the work and not press hard, that should prevent you from accidentally slipping and stabbing yourself. I suggest you use this sonic pick to break up the larger chunks of crud, then use the normal picks that are included to gingerly scrape off any remaining bits close to the gum line. I think $20-$30 is a good value for this tool. It's not for everyday use because you'll likely mess up the enamel on your teeth that way, you'll likely only use it once a year or something. I feel like you could probably find different bits for this tool and use it for other projects in the meantime lol. In the end you may end up going to the dentist anyway, because you can't really see every spot in your mouth to use the pick safely on those areas. But if you do the lion's share of the work with this, next time you go to the dentist they may only charge you like $100 for a standard cleaning instead of the exorbitant price for a "deep clean". i had some stains and build up on my bottom row since i was like 11. back then i wasn’t caring about my teeth like i should and by the time i started caring it was too late. the dentist would always quote a ridiculous number to clean it and having high blood pressure never allowed me to actually do it. seen a video for these on tik tok, decided to try it, WORKED OUT THE GATE. it’s kinda like a tiny drill that doesn’t rotate just shakes. it really doesn’t hurt the gums at all and vibration isn’t that bad. but this muh fugga scraped every bit of build up, every brown and black coffee stain, newport stain, front and back of the teeth, in between teeth, and i am SHOOK. Work excellently. I had dental floss stuck in between plaque in between my bottom teeth. This cleared up all the plaque. I wasn’t sure how it worked but I found out that it uses hypersonic vibrations and it decimates the plaque. I had chunks of plaque falling off and it was very uncomfortable. Wow! I’m so impressed! I am a smoker and heavy coffee drinker and I had a dark line on one tooth from staining. I’m very self conscious of it and no amount of teeth whitening, heavy brushing would lighten it. It also looked like I had something stuck in my teeth. At my last teeth cleaning I asked them to get rid of it and they were able to lighten it a bit but it was still there. This tool removed it completely in less than a minute!
