I have recently been in and out of hospital with my mom. When admitted I typically stay overnight with her. One morning I woke up with bites on my back and arm. I never had an experience with beg bugs, so I summed it up to spider bites. My aunt came to visit my mother and noticed the swelling on my arm. She is a nurse and said they looked like bed bug bites. Again I never experienced bed bugs nor been curious to know anything about them. Naturally there was no urgency on my part other than assuming it was a one time occurrence and life goes on. Later that evening as the itching intensified and swelling spreaded, I did report to nurse and wanted my mom moved into another room. I was then informed that there has been issues with bed bugs. All her belongings were bagged and she was given a shower. By then I’ve been home and bought in overnight bags and blankets I used while in the hospital. Since then I’ve been experiencing bites. I called exterminator but he was not able to locate any bugs or signs that they were in my home. Before I spend a load of money I have started doing all the necessary precautions. I bought these mattress encasements after researching bed bugs and preventive maintenance . The quality is great and it fit my mattress like a glove. I’m happy with the purchase. Not sure if it’s effective at this point but definitely an essential item needed when attempting to trap them. I will update my review if anything change . Update: I did experience one more episode of bites since last review. I still didn’t spend thousands on exterminator I used Ortho Home Defense Max for bed bugs, mattress/box spring covers, sprayed bed linen and furniture with alcohol (was told they hate the smell), vacuumed daily, bagged up linens in black bags and sat out in heat for 2 weeks, and some other little things. It’s been 4 months and no sign of bed bugs. Update April 5, 2025- still no more occurrence. I took case off mattress to wash. It held up well during washing and was easy to put back on. Read more

i purchased this as a last ditch effort to save my mattress from my elderly dog with dementia back in 2020. it did exactly what it needed to do for the last few years of her life. it has now been used twice for my puppies' first heat cycles. i can clean blood out of sheets and blankets, but i did not want blood in my casper mattress so i threw this down. perfection. worked perfectly. currently in the dryer for the 2nd time this week. i have no idea how many times its been washed since we got it, but a LOT. like a lot a lot and it's holding strong. once this mess is over (puppy 2 started hers last week...), i'm buying myself a new one (i wont have puppies again for hopefully 15 years, and this one will be spayed before her next cycle). its got a nice feel to it, and even on the memory foam you can tell a difference. i think it really does help with my allergies too. i had taken it off after the elderly dog passed until i got my next puppy and her heat started about a year later, and didnt take it back off and she's now 2 (it's been washed, i promise!) and i feel like i havent been waking up as stuffy the last 2 years vs the year it wasnt on the bed. Purchased this for a patient with incontinence issues. Pros: Allergen resistant, check. Doesn’t seem to accumulate dust mites. It’s breathable, doesn’t intensify heat, easy to put on, tab over zipper keeps it zipped (and I can see how it would be bug resistant, although that’s not an issue I can attest to). It doesn’t make noise or crinkle. Definitely easy to clean, a spill you can scrub right off — it doesn’t stain. Cons: If you have a large mattress (height-wise) this may not fit. I used it for a 5 inch mattress topper and it worked great — it wouldn’t fit on the actual mattress, despite being the correct size. You may be able to purchase a size or 2 larger than your bed, but I don’t know if the corners will fit. Water resistance: I mentioned the incontinent patient. This mattress protector is easy to wash/clean and doesn’t stain or retain odor. HOWEVER, urine did seep through to the mattress. If you add an adhesive urine pad (adhesive so it doesn’t slip), under the person, you’ll be able to throw the pad out without urine reaching the mattress. On a protection level I gave the mattress pad a 2/5. 2 for cleaning ease, it doesn’t actually protect 100%. I imagine some will be purchasing for young children — this will help, but it’s not a potty training solution. Might be good for older kids with occasional accidents. Then I’d suggest putting the adhesive pee pad under the protector. Will protect the bed without getting ripped by tossing/turning, so you can leave the pad in place night after night. Read more

This mattress cover is high quality. Made the mistake of not getting one right away on the last mattress and let’s just say some wine spilled and mattress had a bad stain. I went back to where I got the mattress and paid close to $100 bucks for one. It worked but the quality of the one I just got on amazon for half the price was made with way better craftsmanship. It was easy to unbox, wash on warm with no bleach, and set up. Did it all by my self in 10 mins on a Cal King. Zipper works great and feels durable. I recommend this mattress cover. I don’t know how well it will hold up over the next 3-5 years or if it is truly waterproof but I can tell you it’s well made and easy to put on. There was absolutely no stretching of the material to get it on and it fit snug. Stitching also looks durable. I read hundreds of reviews for many different mattress covers and I’m glad I picked this one. Update: I don’t know how to say this but after a few months of use my wife had a accident in the middle of the night. The cover did its job. Not a single drop on the new mattress. I figured the cover would be stained permanently but I just washed it with a tide pod and warm water and the stain was completely gone. I still recommend this cover. Read more
