Not sure how to compare this to other products so I'm being generous with the rating. It says 8000btu which is supposed to cool a room 300- 400 sqf feet but that says nothing about insulation and ambient temperature. My room is 140sft. The rest of the house is at 76 f and the door does not seal. If I up the thermostat to 60, the room will never reach that temp. On the other hand the air coming out of it is freezing cold and there's a lot of it. The thermostat goes down to 58, so, I assume the output is a at least that cold. Feels like it. Main concern is it comes with nothing to seal the window around the spacer panel. If you want your room the be separated from the outside, you will need to make or buy something yourself. It's easy to do, I cut foam strips out of a pool noodle. Oh people complained that installation was difficult but it took me less than a minute to attach. It's not the quietest but it has a smooth hum that doesn't bother me. No "vibration" sounds that can get irritating. Keep in mind you will need a drip pan. On the plus side, if your room is humid, it's a source of semi-distilled water. Read more

I use this to support my HVAC system on days that are just a little too hot for it to effectively cool my house and it does the job. Also at night if I start feeling a little too warm I'll use the remote to turn it on and cool the house a little more than normal so I can sleep a little better. If you're a homeowner you need something in case your system breaks and this is a great portable unit that I recommend to everyone I know that needs it. Read more

it never cooled off the room, it read 82 degrees in here the whole time. the breeze from the unit was cold but it never lowered the temperature in a small room BEWARE they picked this up and still no refund This was returned only a few days after reciept. Whats the hold up with the refund?????? I aught to be paid more for all the time spent setting this up for it NOT to work. Read more
