Mostly the same, very close
They sell these as if they are the same Botanic Garden product. I have had my original for nearly 20 years with a very extensive set including many (most) of the serving dishes. But I didn't have as many tankard mugs as I would like, so my husband bought me some for my birthday. Although the pattern seems to match the originals, they are not quite the same, but it is only something I would notice, most others would never see the differences. For what you get, you must pay a lot just because of the name, any pottery mug that was similar without the name would be much cheaper. But if you want Portmeirion Botanic Garden, that's what you must pay. I suppose you could find them cheaper on ebay, but my preference is Amazon. Read more
Does not last, not hygenic, not durable.
This is a review of all Portmeirion products and Portmeirion in general. My wife has been buying Portmeirion for 30 years. Some from stores, some when she was in England, some from Amazon. Though I wanted to give this 2-3 stars, she insisted. 1 star. The good=the pattern is beautiful. The bad=they are not made well and do not last. We have (had) 50 different Portmeirion pieces. All of them are in various stages of decay and damage. Some were made incorrectly, like the glassware, with mishappen off-center stems. All of them develop cracks and chips after less than 5 years use (see pictures). She just keeps them. I wanted to replace them with something hygenic, like Mikasa, which is an excellent value, but she likes this pattern and hates the quality. All the mugs chip and crack, develop spider cracks all over. So do the plates. So do all pieces we've ever bought. This is not really acceptable. You're buying a beautiful pattern on an inferior product. Don't think otherwise. Read more

Broken Mug
The mailing box arrived in terrible condition. It is a miracle that only one mug was broken. It is not worth the effort to replace the entire order. I would have to ship back all the mugs and wait again for the replacement. I am afraid that the same thing will happen with the replacement order. So I am keeping the order. So I got 5 mugs for the price of 6! Read more
