in all the years of owning cats, i never really realized the importance of trimming their nails. i’ve recently begun trimming them and this clipper makes it so much easier than anything i could have imagined. it’s nice and compact, so it can store easily anywhere. it is adjustable, which makes trimming my three cats safer based on the difference in size, and it’s nice and sharp so it makes a clean and safe cut. plus it traps the trimmings in the little plastic hat. overall, it’s a great product that works exactly as intended and makes trimming a breeze. Problem: I recently got a new kitten and he has razor sharp nails. He is very little and his nails are fine so I was afraid to use my existing pet nail trimmer tool. Solution: I found this nail trimmer that advertised different settings for different sized cats and safe for kittens. Impression: It is a nice size to fit in the palm of your hand for nice control. There is a plastic guard that catches clipping which is nice feature to help keep your home clean of nail clippings. There is also a safety slide on handle to keep it closed which prevents you from clipping when you don’t want to and it is nice for storage – meaning it’s a little smaller when the arm is down and it prevents it from getting broken. There is also a hidden nail file, I almost missed it. How does it work: In theory it was easy to use, but since use depended on the cooperation of my kitten I wasn’t able to do this by myself. It takes a bit of coordination to get the kittens claw into the very small hole. The whole is adjustable for cuts at lengths of 1MM, 2MM, 2.5MM and 3.5MM. I used the very smallest setting and it was an ideal length for my kitten. Pros: I was able to trim my kitten’s nails to a safe length without injuring him. The plastic guard is nice to contain the clippings. Cons: I was not able to use this tool alone. It required two people as my kitten was not a cooperative participant. The cut nail was better than the razor-sharp nail I started with but still felt quite uncomfortable when he was is paying with me or attacking my feet. As mentioned, there is a nail file included but that was not going to happen with my little guy. The lever that holds the arm in a locked position is a little difficult to operate. I have to try it several times before it slides into place. Final note: Ultimately, I may use this when the kitten gets older but for now I have purchased a nail grinder which I am able to use on my own, provides a smoother edge to the nail, and is easier on my kitten’s mental health. Definitely recommend if you are set on clipping. It is a good value for the price. But would suggest a nail grinder instead. Read more

This works as claimed. It is easier than the scissor-like clippers I have used before. It leaves less of a mess because most of the clipped nail goes into the plastic holder designed to catch them. I like that the clipper is adjustable for three different lengths of nail clipping. I’m very happy with this product. Read more

The design is nice and feels comfortable to hold. I like that it has different size options and a hidden nail file. However, it doesn’t cut as smoothly as I expected — sometimes it takes a few tries to trim thicker nails. It’s okay for kittens or smaller cats, but not very effective for larger ones. Although I really like the handle and the way the squeeze activator works and feels and that it collects the trimmings for easy cleanup, these clippers are not good for trimming anything except maybe a kitten's claws. The design makes seeing what you are doing almost impossible and forget trying to line up where the quick is. I have two cats that are on the smaller side and even on the largest setting, I couldn't get their nails into the hole to trim. Even tried it on my two pound chihuahua and not a chance. Read more

I was so nervous trimming my kittens nails. Hee is only 5 months old and uses all his scratching posts but still needed a trim. My vision isn't the best. Adjusting the sizing made me more confident in not cutting the quick. He allowed me to trim both front paws without trying to run off. This trimmer is very easy to use. Priced well. Nails didn't chip or flake so the cut was clean. Appears durable and not made cheaply. Has a neat little plastic nail clipping catcher to avoid a messy clean up.
