I’m a flat footed runner, and I’ve struggled with finding the right shoes and insoles for years. I’ve wanted an alternative to expensive custom orthotics, so I’ve tried many. After recently trying a set of Powerstep neutrals at the running store (when getting new shoes), I found that they also had a ‘low arch’ model. They didn’t have them in the store, so I ordered them here to try. The neutrals felt good to me, just standing in the store, so I hoped these might be an answer to my constant search. They arrived quickly, and I was anxious to try them out. The first thing that I noticed was how physically wide they were – I had a tough time getting them into my running shoes. They were easily another quarter inch plus wider in the arch area than the factory sockliner. Once in, I put my shoes on – and they felt noticeably more snug. After tying up, I did a bit of treadmill time with them. They felt good. Not great. Even this ‘low arch’ model seemed to have more arch than I wanted, and they began to get uncomfortable after a bit. After stopping, I was just checking out my shoe… I won’t mention the specific shoe, but it’s an extremely common running brand and model. The reason the shoe felt more snug was that the width of the orthotic was pushing outward on the inside of the shoe, drawing the top down. I didn’t care for that. So that, plus not feeling comfortable to me after some time meant they were going back. That being said, while they weren’t for me, they may be great for someone else. I have no complaints with the quality – made well, and these do have very firm arch support. They just weren’t for me. Read more

These do a good job correcting for overpronation and fallen arches without requiring a long adjustment to get used to them. Prescribed by my physician and they work well, reduce the amount of pain from walking/standing for long periods. I notice minimal difference among the neutral, low, high, max, etc models they market - all feel and work equally well. Just get the right size to fit your shoe. Read more
