Among The Best Insoles Out There And Are Podiatrist Recommended
The Powerstep Protech was recommended to me by my Podiatrist and I concur with her that these fall into the elite category of insoles out there and I have tried so many as I have had a few foot problems over the years. These excel at stability with very firm arch support and flawless metatarsal support as well. With all this stiffness, they still are extremely comfortable so you get that great combination. The only downside for me, however, is that they have very limited cushioning. If you are using these in nice cushioning sneakers, this is not necessarily a negative as the sneaker does the cushioning. I like extra cushioning for long walks and hikes even with good cushioning sneakers so for that I use New Balance Motion Control insoles which are not quite as firm as Powersteps but cushion about a million times better on the heel and a billion times better on the forefoot. NB Motion Controls are a little thicker so especially for high instep people may not work in every shoe. Low volume feet people will have no problem with Motion Controls. If you want to put Powersteps in stiff hiking boots, realize how little cushioning there will be but if you are carrying weight, then maybe you want the maximum support that these provide. Also, for people who stand for long periods, Powersteps should absolutely be tried for their superior support and comfort. Can also be considered for bicycling if they fit in a close fitting shoe like that. For ultra thin insoles that work great in bicycling shoes, skates, dress/casual shoes, football cleats, ski boots, etc., consider the Pedag Viva (leather) or the Pedag Viva Winter (wool). Pedag are German designed and the #1 selling insoles in Germany so do you think they aren't good? The Superfeet ultra thin model is also worth considering as well as the Specialized innersoles sold in bicycle shops. Specialized has models for a variety of arch conditions and the shops are trained to fit you to the model you need so don't be concerned if you are not bicyclist as these are superior insoles for any sport or application for thin insoles.
