After approximately 5000 pots with my first one the cord finally bit the dust. After all this time I decided to replace the whole pot instead of just a cord. I'll delegate the original one to the camper. This thing makes good coffee. I have no idea how the drip, drip world of mr. coffee makers got started. Have had this percolator for a couple months now and have had a love/hate relationship with it as about half the time it brewed the coffee right and the other half of the time the grounds would come out through the top of the strainer and you'd get a mouthful of them at the bottom of your cup. It finally dawned on me to pull the spring and stretch it out to make the basket lid stay tight to the pot lid. Now it brews great every time. Read more

I'm 66 years old, so this is NOT my first percolator style coffee maker, but it is so far the best. It looks classy on my counter, takes up so much less space than the k-cup style with less environmental impact, brews quickly and the taste is superior. It comes with some wonky, awkward paper filters, which I immediately opted not to use. However, this did create a problem with grounds in my cup. Instead, I simply push a standard drip paper coffee filter into place and I have zero problems with grounds in the coffee. I'm not sure why this works, but it does and it's a cheap and easy fix. Straightforward coffee making that stops perking when the coffee is done. Easy! BONUS No plastic. Earlier in this year, I purchased (and returned) a multifeatured fancy drip unit. The coffee tasted & smelled like Off Gassing plastic. WHO CARES what features it offers if the coffee is contaminated? Many Amazon & coffee specialty sites online comment that coffee baskets & water transfer tubes are ALL made of plastic on these multifeatured machines. Stupid! This Presto SS unit only has STAINLESS STEEL in contact w the coffee ingredients. The stay cool lid & pot handles are plastic. We use paper filters left over from our old Mr.Coffee in the SS coffee basket. Just cut a teeny hole to fit over the SS perk tube. Makes good coffee. Uses the same amount of coffee to make 12 cups that I did on my old unit to make 10. I hope it lasts a long time! Read more

Our Old Presto lost its ability to keep the coffee hot, after many, many years!!! We purchased a new one and love it, it makes delicious coffee and keeps it HOT without making it taste funny, it's wonderful!!! Loved the old one too, it was very reliable for many years!!! PRESTO is the best percolator, we've tried other brands over the years and PRESTO makes great coffee and the percolator last the longest!!! Read more
