Brilliant Percolator - does what it says on the Box

CappoqueenJuly 14, 2019

I am from UK, and a couple of years ago the introduction of an EU ruling meant that "keep warm" appliances were no longer available in Europe due to a health and safety ruling (thanks EU!!) so when the base of my current 4 year old percolator with "keep warm" function parted company with the body, I needed to buy a replacement. I discovered that "keep warm" percolators were still available in the US (sensible Country - no silly EU rules) I found this one on Amazon US, and having read the mainly positive reviews, decided to purchase it. It is much better than my previous one - perks in around 10 minutes, and most of all, keeps the coffee piping hot all day!! Very smart in appearance, easy to clean, and has a secure knob on the lid (my previous percolator knob broke off and had to be replaced) I just love this percolator so much that I am going to purchase another as a future backup - appliances do not last forever, so while they are available I will get one. The price is favourable compared to the cost of percolators in UK - in fact, even with postage/customs cost, it worked out at around the same as what we have to pay here, which was great. My only one-time additional expense was a stepdown transformer due to difference in voltage here, but well worth it to be able to have hot coffee on tap all day, which is what it delivers. I took a chance on this Perco - an unknown name in UK - had to trust the reviews given. The positive ones outweighed the negatives, and so far it works perfectly. Thank You America!! Read more

Revised - one issue, great outcome

I waited a few years to write this review. I use this coffee percolator 2-3 times a week. It makes nice coffee and I like the very fine holes in the coffee basket - it takes longer to brew but the taste is richer. I had a recent with the cord (photo). I started noticing sparks as I plugged it in to the percolator and it overheated. There is no screw to tighten it up and I was afraid to continue using it. I reached out to the manufacturer, Presto, and we had a series of interactions. It turns out that the plug had rust/corrosion, and evidence of water exposure. I need to be more careful keeping that area dry. They offered me a great discount and more than fair deal on a replacement percolator, which I accepted. Great customer service - can;t wait for my new (replacement) one to arrive! Read more

Need a new coffee pot? Definitely consider a percolator!

Patty7851October 7, 2018

When my old drip coffeemaker started making coffee that was barely lukewarm, I turned to Amazon to find another one. I was dismayed that all drip models were either $19 or $90. The cheap ones never last and I don’t need one with a lot of bells and whistles. During my search, percolators came up as something others had considered. Being a child of the 70’s, my husband and I each remembered our moms using these and how indestructible they seemed to be. I read all the reviews and was convinced. It’s been almost a month and my husband and I still can’t talking about how much we love it! Very simple to use, coffee is piping hot until you turn the pot off and no need for special filters! We use our old 12 cup drip filters. Just pull it down right over the tube and you have your cutout center. This pot was delivered to my work and I made the first trial pot there. Several coworkers had no idea they still made percolator and had fond childhood memories to share. The first pot turned out great and we’ve had no problems. One thing I might mention. This pot doesn’t turn off until you unplug it. I purchased a plug in appliance timer thru Amazon for $11 which solved that problem! It sounds cheesy but it’s hard to describe the feelings/comfort this old style pot brings to mind and even though I only drink 1/2 cup each morning, I’m already attached to it! Read more

Carafe should be one of the main headliners for this coffe maker

L. EvansJune 27, 2020

This is an independent review... I bought the coffeemaker on a whim hoping it would pan out... and I must say that I absolutely LOVE this coffee maker. Everything about the design makes complete sense starting with the removable water reservoir that makes it so easy to wash compared to a basic coffee maker where it's built into the main unit and you basically wash the reservoir on "clean" mode (they always get nasty over time). Secondly, the different brews you can make, starting with "small batch" which I love because I only make two cups in the morning. It can be difficult to get the right taste for a small batch on a 12 cup maker. It also has "classic" or "rich" brews which you can tell the difference. Classic is exactly what it sounds like, classic taste, while rich is a little stronger if you like stronger coffee, which I do! Lastly, there's a tablespoon scooper that attaches to the side of the unit which is very convenient. I haven't had the maker long, my only hope is that it lasts! Love the design! Read more

Great Percolator

Tim GroomsMay 3, 2022

The flavor is excellent when using a percolator and please grind your own beans. Easy to use and forget about a filter. Just a waste of money and energy. I purchased the first one 3.5 years ago. I feel that you need to make several pots in order to what I consider seasoning the pot, similar to a carbon steel skillet. Several friends were over and I made a pot in the drip coffee maker and one in the percolator. The drip maker was quickly washed and taken to the basement and has been seen since. I make a minimum of one pot per day and at times two, so the money was well spent to make over 1,300 pots of coffee during its lifespan and equates to approximately $0.04 per pot. The pot finally stopped working, but I had purchased two. Always have a new backup and two stovetop percolators. I would prefer if the pot had a clear top in order to see the coffee percolating. At times I have not seated the internal stand properly and ended up with hot water. For now, I wait a couple of minutes to ensure it is making the proper sound while percolating. Great pot, with very minor drawback. Read more
