The ONE FEATURE of this litter that concerns me is its ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: -- It's made of silica gel, same chemical composition as sand (SiO2)... -- But, because of how it's made... being super-energy-intensive to manufacture... -- Much more costly impact to the planet than biodgradable litters -- This will sit in a landfill indefinitely... tens of thousands of years or more -- (BUT: this WILL NOT leach anything harmful into ground water, soil etc. Just sit there) All that said... Let's look at the POSITIVES of this product, if you've already committed to using it. -- HEALTH TRACKING features are quite interesting, useful and as far as I can tell, function well. -- ABSORBENCY of this product is ASTOUNDING... We have two cats that put out a lot of otherwise odorous pee... but with this stuff, it's almost like NOT THERE at all. Stirring the sand shows it's there, but the odor? Hardly at all! -- CLUMPING of this is very different from clumping of clay or natural products. It "kind of clumps"... gets thicker.. but absorbs everything around it... without having to form giant clump clusters. Quite nice, actually! -- WEIGHT of the material itself... volume for volume, it's about 1/2 to 1/3 the weight, yet it continues to absorb for weeks. Not sure even how that's possible, but that's exactly what it does. -- DUST or blowback while raking or pouring it: NON-EXISTENT... totally PLACID. No problem at all. -- FREQUENCY of CLEANING ATTENTION: Wow! Completely off the charts (positively) different from "normal litter"... If I forget a day or two even... I'm not slammed in the nose with an odorous stench... and yet, I can go swoosh things around a bit, pick out the dry odorless clumps of poop on top, and get on with things. SUPER Nice that way. -- EFFECT on the cats? Completely positive. They just "do their business" and get on with it. If anything, tho, the effect is very positive. We have three boxes: two with silical and one with traditional litter... just to see their preferences. Turns out that since we've been using this, the third "other litter" box is hardly used AT ALL... the cats themselves are self-selcting the silica variety. Need I say more? Yes, of course I do have an environmental conscience, and realize the effect of the product on the planet is harder, just due to energy and manufacturing process. But when I factor in things like more transportation cost because of traditional litter being 2X or 3X heavier for the volume... along with the happiness of the cats and ease of support in the household... There are probably a lot of other things far worse in the long run than this... In fact, I have talked myself into leaving it a FULL FIVE STARS because feature by feature of the good sides of this stuff... it would be more like TEN STARS... So just realize I theoretically shaved off a bit for the environment, but STILL give it FIVE STARS!!! Yes, it will be sitting there in a landfill for thousands of years, or forever... I use this litter in a Litter Robot. We previously were using Tidy Cat light weight which was causing a mess all around the house. It was sticking in clumps to my cats paws and tracking everywhere. The Pretty Litter solved this immediately! It's clean and has no dust. Since the urine is absorbed in the crystals, it drastically reduced the emptying of the waste bin. Cats paws are super clean. It also provides a great increase in odor absorption compared to other clumping litters. I highly recommend it. It's worth the extra cost. Read more

I really enjoy pretty litter. At first I only got it because I suspected my cat had a uti, and then again when I left my home for vacation but now I am a forever subscriber. I just love the fact that it does not stink up my whole apartment with having 3 cats. And it is so lightweight! I am no longer breaking my back when changing/ scooping the litter/ bringing it up a flight of stairs. The hallway is much less dusty than when I would use regular scoopable litter. It is very pricey especially when having 3 poop monsters, but overall it is worth every penny. It does track ALOT but still I’d much rather this than any other litter. Read more

Best damn cat litter I’ve ever used for my cat Sophie. It does not clump but it works just fine in a Litter Robot. I also use this litter in a standard box elsewhere in apartment. The only thing you have to clean out is the poops. The urine is absorbed by the litter itself. It has reduced litter box odor immensely. I’ve been using the same litter 30 days after putting it in. (Of course, it has that health component where it changes color if anything is wrong. May be useful in the future.). I’m not exaggerating on how well it controls odor. And Sophie urinates a LOT!!! I keep waiting for the litter to start wreaking of cat urine, but, so far her urine is still being absorbed. I bought 2 bags and they are going to last 2 months at least. There is a bit more tracking than common cat litter because the crystals are pretty small and fine. My cat is 17 years old, and the texture doesn’t seem to bother her at all. This is the best litter that I have purchased in all the years that I have own cats. There is no litter on the floor and we don't detect any odor and we also use half a bag compared to what they recommend and it still lasts for a whole month before we need to completely empty out the litter box and wash it and clean it. But, I must say I only have one cat. I highly recommend this litter because there's no dust, There's no odor, The way it clumps is fantastic, and also if the cat has any type of urinary issues the litter add special chemical in it that will tell us that there's a bacterial infection which helps us keep a better eye on the health of our animal. I will not buy another type of brand of litter again as long as I own a cat. Read more
