Product received was 100% as described. Good fit and material construction. I wear the hat when I cut and maintain an unshaded 1/3 acre lot I own and when my family goes to the water-park side of a large amusement park in Texas. The only problem is that the material has started to fade from either exposure to the sun or from machine washing. I ordered the dark navy blue color and now it is an uneven light/medium blue. For what I use it for, this isn't an issue, but may be for those who wear it on the job. Because of the low price (paid 9.99 I think) and the actual hat (threading/construction) hasn't degraded, I would order again. I rate it 4 star because of the color fading after one summer season of use. Read more
My original G.I. boonie hat from Viet-Nam is carefully stowed away, but, happily, Propper still makes them. My previous hat, after ten years of constant use, was still in excellent shape but on an evil day I lost it in the Wal-Mart. I ordered a new one, this time in blue (don't you just feel like a change every ten years or so?), and it is every bit as good as the original. A boonie hat won't make you look like John Wayne or get you any compliments; it's not meant to. It is based on a field hat designed by the French for military use in Indo-China, and it is for keeping the sun and rain off your head, not for fashion. A gentleman always removes his hat when addressing a lady or entering an office or a home, and the boonie hat folds away so you can stow it in your belt or in a pocket. This is my hat! I was in emergency services for over 20 years. For a good bit of that time I had a Boonie hat I would wear during storms, events, or disasters. That thing went through everything with me. Bring it home, dump it in the wash, stuff it in my go bag and wait for the next event. It was lost while gutting houses after some severe flooding and I’ve been looking for which make/model fit my fat, misshapen head ever since. Propper, this old Paramedic thanks you. I got this to replace the one I used to wear in the Navy. Fit is true to size, material is ripstop and light weight. The navy blue hat is not an issued item however the camo patterns are issued and this is the same item. Read more
