This is a very small and compact charging stand. It has usb-c port in the back for power and a usb-c plug on the top that goes into the Portal. When it's powered a green light in the shape of the Portal comes on the front which I think looks pretty cool. When the stand is plugged into the Portal it changes to red to indicate that it's charging. My initial impressions of this Playstation Portal charging stand were that this was very small and it didn't look like it could hold my Portal very well. Fortunately, I was completely wrong about that. It was incredibly stable. I had to take off the clear case that I had on it for it to fit but that was OK with me. There is one major flaw with this stand. Even without the case on my Portal doesn't fit completely into the stand because I have a tempered glass screen protector on it. The space that my Portal slides down into is just a little too narrow for it to fit properly. As you can see from the pictures I've included, the charger is pushing the screen protector upwards and causing air bubbles to get under it at the corners. If I leave it like that where the Portal doesn't go all the way down into the slot then it will not charge at all because the usb-c plug at the top of the charging stand will not go far enough into the Portal's charging slot. I had to force the Portal down further into the stand's slot for it to actually start charging. So, unfortunately, this charger will not work for me since it puts too much pressure on the screen. If it were just a millimeter or two wider then it would have fit with no problem. With a screen as big and as beautiful as the one on the Playstation Portal a lot of people are going to put tempered glass screen protectors on them and the fact that this charging stand doesn't accommodate for that means I can only recommend this for people that use a thin plastic screen protector or no screen protector at all. Having to take off my case to use this was fine with me but needing to also take off my screen protector does not work for me, unfortunately. But if you don't have a tempered glass protector then I have no doubts that this stand would work great for you. Read more

This charging dock is a convenient extension of a USB-C charge cable. Accounting for the USB-C plug this dock measures 2.6" tall, 1.7" wide and 1.2" deep. A flip out stand takes the footprint to 2.4" deep. Getting this dock onto the Portal is fairly straightforward once you get the hang of it. It is best to turn the Portal around to eyeball the location of the Portal's charge port when plugging in the dock. I have found trying to drop the Portal onto the stand from the front a very hit and miss approach, more miss than hit. The Portal can be set in standing position or tilted back onto its stand. Non-slip strips are stuck to the bottom to keep the dock from sliding around. When the Portal is charging an LED lights red and when charging is complete it turns green. I suppose the LED simply reflects whether or not there is current flow to the Portal. Due to the design of the portal it won't fit a Portal that is wearing a protective silicone sleeve. The spot where the base of the Portal sits is wide enough for only a bare Portal. The location of the USB-C port on the back of the dock is 1.8" up from the base so a sleeve would block it. This is not a critique of the dock, just a FYI for folks like us who have been using a grippy silicone sleeve. If I want to use this dock long term I will have to make do without the sleeve, cut part of it away, or use a different grippy mechanism. Overall this dock does what it is supposed to do. I do wish it was easier to install a Portal onto it from the front side though, like some other docks I have seen, but those tend to be larger and require more space to store. The small size of this dock is a plus in that sense. Read more
