I had found a gorgeous knee length crushed velvet Duster in a trendy catalog, but they had sold out of my size. I was very disappointed, so I started searching the internet but couldn't find any other long jacket that was actually made with crushed velvet. I didn't want velour, it isn't the same look. Eventually I came across this jacket on Amazon. It was less than a third of the cost of the one in the fashion catalog, and they didn't have the gray-green color option. But Amazon had one in dark blue. A woman had posted a photo of her wearing the blue one, but hers looked much lighter/brighter than the one in the ad, and a bit gaudy for me. With my fingers crossed I ordered it anyway. It came today, and looks exactly like the ad shows - dark blue and knee length (I'm 5'10"). It is stunning! The play of light hitting the crushed velvet varies the color from pale blue to almost black as the light hits it, but it is overall a nice dark blue but not as dark as navy. Again, it looks just like the ad. And watching the light play across the crushed velvet is mesmerizing! I ordered one size larger since someone mentioned the sleeves being a bit tight, which was a good idea since I'll wear sleeves under it. The sleeves are fine in the larger size, but the coat is a bit loose. Because it drapes nicely, though, the excess fabric isn't really a problem. Bottom line, it is even prettier than the ad photo, and I'm delighted with the understated, elegant style. It looks expensive. And I'm over 60, but it would look great at anyone's age. Don't expect it to keep out the chill, though - it is very thin and meant for looks, not warmth. Read more

It depends on what you wear with it and how you wear it. It can be dressy, classy, casual, and look like a bath robe, as others have commented. I don’t see it that way though. It’s up to you! This is not itchy 👍 This shines 👍 Looks great to me 👍 I ordered an xl, but should’ve gone with a large. I’m in the process of dropping pounds, after being done with having babies. I’m 5.5. I used to wear xxl after my daughter was born. Weighed 165, now I weigh 140. And it’s continuing to melt away with good diet and exercise 😁 hard work. 😓 I started at 125 pounds. The photo shows dark blue and what I received is light blue color. It I a very thin see through fabric. My own robe is much thicker and heavier. It does not look like a coat and I would not come out in it using it as a coat to avoid get myself embarrassed. I’m 5’5”, weigh 135lbs and bought the small. It is so cute and fits great. It definitely needs dress shoes to look right, but I think you could get away with dressy flats if you don’t like heels. Read more
