If you want a traditional straight blade for under 3 figures you can’t go wrong with this. Seriously, with all the cheap phonies out there pay just a little more to get this. I decided to get this after watching some YouTube videos to find out my first straight blade was crap. The video was made by a guy from Razor Emporium (same people that make this) and he said that when you get it don’t even strop it. He swore up and down that it was ready to go as soon as received. I tested the blade straight out of the box and I wasn’t disappointed. While this is not the fanciest or prettiest razor out there you can tell somebody really took the time to ensure all the fundamentals were just right. Blade was straight, sharp and stropped with a light coat of oil to keep the blade preserved. Thank you Razor Emporium for your excellent work. Read more

Overall this is a great starter razor. I've been using a safety razor for most of my shaving life but could never afford to buy a top brand like Dovo, Böker, or thiers issard. Razor emporium does a fantastic job with making sure the blades are ready to go when they hit your doorstep. My one and only issue is that the finishing work on the scales didnt seem to be done, or was done by someone who wasn't paying close attention. I didnt mind doing the rest of the work with just a bit of high grit sanding paper. Hats of to the stone samurai who gets these blades in tip top shape. Read more
Razor Emporium does an excellent job in everything they lay their hands on. This razor is no exception. The blade is not only sharpened to shave-ready condition, but the cheesy, original Gold Dollar scales are removed and replaced by custom scales made in-house. They take pride in their work, and it's obvious. If I were starting with straight razors all over again, I would definitely have bought this razor and a mid-quality strop (because noobs end up cutting up their first strops, so no need to buy a good one until you're proficient). The 6/8" blade is just right for the beginner: Not too large, where cutting oneself is a constant risk, and it's not too small where too much maneuverability is also risky. This buy is a no-brainer. If you're truly interested in learning the manly art of straight razor shaving, starting with this product is the way to go. Read more
