Both the pencil straightener and extra small curling iron are perfect for adding texture and curls to hair that would be hard to grab/grip with larger heat tools. They are both very lightweight and easy to use, although they are small and simple they still work really well and quickly. Placed this product test order on on of those 3am wake ups.. did not read that it was for edges! LOL. These are mini! I am Mexican and I have long, thick, wavy hair and this worked well when curling, and also straightening stubborn pieces in my daughter's (straighter) hair. It did get hotter than I expected so do not play with this! I'd recommend wearing heat gloves if you have them and are not used to heat on your fingertips! I adore the unique size of this set. So many curling and flat irons are 1" or larger. I rarely see great quality hair tools in this smaller circumference (or flat) so this set of 3 is a special one. The curling iron is only .25" around and I like to cut the hair around my face fairly short while the rest of it is to the bottom of my shoulder blades. So this iron works so well for the shorter sections. The 2 temp options are high (440-450°) and low (320-330°). I use the low one since I have fine/thin hair and it makes wonderful curls. The .3" flat iron makes wonderful waves or takes all the frizz out when I want to straighten my shorter hair. The curling and flat irons are ceramic-coated which acts as a safeguard for your hair. And I'm loving the heat protector serum that they include in this set. It's got a nice, light coconut scent and is an important aid to protect the hair from the heat. If you are wanting small curls and wave styling, this is the way to go. Plus these are great for any length hair for changing the direction of the ends. I was excited to try this set of curling iron and straightener that comes with hair heat protector, but I was disappointed with the products I received. The curling iron heats quickly, but only has a hi and low setting. I couldn't adjust the temperature. Even at the low setting and with the heat protector gel that comes with the set, the curling iron burnt my hair after a few seconds. It also burnt my fingers because the tip of the curling iron where I can touch it to wrap the hair around the iron without burning my fingers is super tiny with barely enough room for a pinch. I had to stop using the curling iron almost immediately and I am a huge fan of curling irons. I wanted this one because I didn't have this size and wanted this size to complement others that produce larger curls. Guess I'll have to stick with those, because this one did not work well for me.
