Corrects PS5 DualSense drift, excellent kit and price!
With a years worth of use, I began to experience drift in my PS5 DualSense controller, which visibly is the movement of your onscreen character without controller input. For me, without thumbstick input, my character at times would just begin jogging left. Not ideal, and worsened with time. The culprit (for me) was potentiometer (the green 3-prong components on the sides of the joystick modules) malfunction, and this kit will correct the problem. You CAN desolder and replace the entire joystick module with one from this kit, but it’s EASIER to simply replace the disc wheel inside your existing potentiometer. If you insert a small flathead driver into the edge at the top of the potentiometer, you can pop the side tabs loose and gently bend it over to the side. I removed the disc wheel, cleaned the carbon film inside with an alcohol swab, and replaced the disc wheel with one (similarly removed) from this kit. After replacing the disc wheel, simply squeeze the casing back together until the side tabs reseat. Works perfectly, no drift whatsoever! There are plenty of how-to videos available online regarding disassembly of the controller, and this kit also includes the screwdriver and pry tool required to do it. I will give you advanced warning that the controller wiring is about as short as allowable for assembly, and if you pull too much against it, it’s very possible to inadvertently break the wiring at the solder connection. This actually happened to me, and you’d then need to strip the wire and resolder it to the appropriate node. For reference, the controller wiring is 26 gauge, and you’d need a wire stripper small enough (Klein Tools 11046) to accommodate the size. Read more
