Worked as described and couldn’t believe how sharp our knifes got. My wife and I had a really expensive set of knives we got for our wedding and kept putting off sending them out to be sharpened. Saw this sharpener and thought I would give it a try. After a minute of sharpening I was amazed the kind of edge I could put on the dulled knives. We actually had to get used to how sharp they are now. Read more

Got this for my boyfriend for his birthday and he absolutely loves it. The knives are significantly sharper. Hard to say if there is a learning curve here and we could be using it better? But ultimately for the price this has improved and extended the lives of our knives. The magnet an rubber roller also makes this very easy to use. Read more

This sharpener surprised me for good. It is easy to use, much more comfortable than the traditional stone, and leaves the large knives with a pretty decent cutting edge. It took me a whole movie to sharpen all the knives from the kitchen and was even enjoyable. Yes, don't expect to leave your knives at the level of sushi only with this. The 400-grit serves more to repair or give initial shape, and although the ceramic part polishes well, you would need a stone of more fine-grained if you want to edge ultra professional. For knives small or very thin, it does not work well because they sink into the magnetic base. Even so, for what it costs and the design it has, it's worth it if you use kitchen knives a lot. You just need some practice, and if you're something detailed like me, you may want to supplement it with another tool to finish off the edge. Read more

I have had this sharpener for a little while now and have had a chance to use it quite a bit. A few things of note. 1) Short knives are problematic with this type of rolling sharpener. I got around it by placing the magnetic block on a 3/8" board. This allowed me to raise the level of the knifeblade above the block for the roller to work on. 2) Long or heavy bellied knives are similarly a problem. On many of my knives, the belly of the knife was higher than the roller is in diameter. The same 3/8" board was used to roll the sharpener on to reach the belly of the knife. I removed the board to sharpen the end of the blade. 3) This type of knife sharpener is - hands down - the quickest and most effective method I have ever used for knife sharpening short of on my belt grinders (I am a knifemaker). I was able to put a super sharp edge on all my kitchen knives in very short order. 4) Sadly, this particular sharpener started losing it's ability to sharpen as well in a couple of months. It is still sharpening, but not nearly as well. For the price, I consider it worth the money, but if you can afford a sharpener that will hold it's sharpening ability or has replaceable sharpening wheels, it is likely worth the extra cost. I will continue to use this sharpener until it no longer works at all, though. I am impressed on how good an edge it puts on blades. 5) One tip... Routinely wipe the steel dust off the sharpening wheel to get the best edge. It especially helps when the wheel isn't working as well. 6) Most sharpeners come with a magnetic block with one or two angles. One of the reasons I bought this particular sharpener is that the block has four different angles to work with. I use three of the four for my blades and I appreciate that feature. Read more

I've been looking for an easy to use sharpener for a while that still felt like I was doing the sharpening. I came across a video of this one and had to check it out. It's JUST as good as in the video. It is a high quality wood with powerful magnets that makes it feel safe to sharpen! It's cheaper than getting multiple sharpening stone sets and works well to fix issues in the blade that might be too small to see with my eyes. No damage to the blades I sharpen either, just a fine sharp edge which cuts well. Read more

What a great invention. This works well on all my kitchen knives except for the small paring knife. With the small knife it wants to slide down on the magnet so you end up buffing the wood square block and not the blade. I like how easy it is to sharpen where the blade rounds to the tip. I was concerned about this but no problem. One of the challenges with knife sharpening is maintaining the angle while sharpening along the blade. But this tool solves that nicely. My 8 inch chef knife with the full bolster, it sharpens up to the bolster edge just fine. I absolutely would buy this again! Read more
