Make sure you fill the water all the way to the top. After the water freezes, the mold will have expanded to the point in which the plastic and rubbery parts slightly separate from each other. This process will then help with the extracting of the ice from the mold. If you still have problems extracting the ice, I found that the "sharpening blade" of a typical kitchen knife set is the perfect size to assist.
