We don’t have any experience with air purifiers, so we were a bit skeptical. But this product actually seems to work as advertised. While we don’t have any way to measure before and after air quality, we can report that my wife’s constant coughing has gone away. Coincidence? Can’t say for sure, but the coughing has stopped and not returned. Her sinus problems have definitely diminished. She has had them months. We’ve had the unit for a little over two weeks. It has a nice glow type of LED light on the top. The low setting is plenty bright for us, so we leave it on low as we like it as a nice night light. When you receive it, you have to attach the twist on base. Initially, it kept falling off. Turns out that it was user error. It just needed a more firmer “twist” to lock it in place. It has a white noise feature (three settings). It isn’t our cup of tea, so we leave it off. It does mask the sound of air flowing, so some might prefer the white noise. I wouldn’t say the unit is noisy, not at all, as moving any reasonable volume of air will will produce at least some sound (also three settings). But you can hear it. If it bothers you, you can always just use it during the day when you aren’t there, or else run it overnight if it’s not in your bedroom. Air purifiers can be quite expensive, but this one is very reasonably priced. If you think you might want to have an air purifier, I’d say give this one a try. Read more

The Safety 1st Fresh Clean Air Purifier meets several needs. It is a small yet versatile addition to the bedside nightstand and I am pleased by its versatility. Arriving well packaged, the air purifier has a honeycomb style white plastic base and solid white plastic top section. Included in the box are the top and base sections of the unit, plastic-wrapped HEPA filter, instructions, and AC power adapter, which plugs into the rear bottom of the top section. Once assembled, it measures 6" wide at the base and stands 9" tall. All the controls and night light are located at the top of the unit, including the air exhaust. You only need to unscrew the bottom section to replace the small HEPA filter, which nests inside. With the fan operating, room air is pulled in from the honeycomb base, passes through the HEPA filter, and exits from openings at the top of the unit. The air purifier has a three-speed fan, which is relatively quiet, as well as a three-level white ring night light. There is also a white noise generator, with five loudness levels. The night light is more than adequate at the lowest setting. The highest setting can light up a room. The white noise generator likewise is adequate for me at the lowest setting. The instructions are simple and straightforward, and include warranty information (one year) and how to purchase replacement HEPA filters. There is no information provided on the listing or instructions on the HEPA filtration efficiency. Normally, you expect to see the number of air exchanges per hour and room size designed to clean the air. Also, most HEPA filters are designed for one year of continuous use. The Safety 1st HEPA filter is supposed to be changed after 1,000 hours of use, equal to about four months at eight hours a night. It is only sold by the manufacturer on their website. I wish the manufacturer provided the efficiency of their air purifier to help consumers. I also wish it were available in colors other than just white. Combining a handy nightlight, white noise generator, and HEPA filtration, the Safety 1st Fresh Clean Air Purifier is a useful addition to a nightstand and warrants a solid 4 stars. Read more

I spend many hours a day in my home office, so I needed a good air purifier. This one works beautifully. It is low noise, and very easy to set up. It really seems to have improved the air quality, as I am not coughing as much as I used to. My office was a little stuffy, and I have cats, and we live on a dirt road which tends to put a lot of dust into our air. This air purifier says it removes 99.97% of the airborne particles, and with the great results I've had, I see no reason to doubt the accuracy of it. The air in my office even smells fresher. It has 3 fan speeds, which is great. I leave it on high when I am not working in the room. I also like the White noise sound machine that has 5 different volumes. It can turn it on a low setting and the sound does not distract me while I am working. (I teach online, so I don't need distractions). The night light has 3 brightness levels and when I leave my office, I put it on high, so if I have to come back in for something, it won't be pitch black in my office. Since it's cold and flu season I've been a little more aware of airflow throughout my house. We have a much larger air purifier but it's hard to hear the TV or conversations while it's running. This is a nice sized air purifier and is quiet enough that we can hear each other and the TV. There is a white-noise mode that's nice for when you want to drown out some of the background noise or if you are like me and are easily distracted by noises/conversation/etc. As others have mentioned the filter size itself is rather small so it's hard to know how much is really being filtered out of the air. It's one of those things that you just have to hope is doing what it says it's doing. The setup was extremely easy as the pieces just snap together. The purifier comes with one filter which the manufacturer says is good for about 1000 hours. The unit itself has a nice feel to it and the size is perfect as it can easily sit on an end table, desk, dresser, etc. without taking up too much room. Overall I was happy with it and I'd definitely recommend it if you want a compact and quiet unit. Read more
