I’ve been using SALBEL Matcha Powder – Japanese Organic Ceremonial (30 individual 2 g sticks) for about a month, and it’s been a solid addition to my daily routine. The single‑serve packets make preparation super easy no measuring, no mess, and great for both home and travel. The flavor is smooth and slightly vegetal without harsh bitterness, especially when whisked with water or blended into a latte. It’s definitely better than most generic instant matcha powders I’ve tried, and works well in smoothies, lattes, or traditional tea preparations. Read more

I was a bit skeptical of this matcha to begin with, but after having a few cups, I like it. I love the convenience of having it premeasured and prepackaged, and it mixes with water or milk quickly and easily. I wasn't sure how well it would mix, as you typically need a strainer to ensure no clumping, and a whisk to ensure it's completely and properly dissolved and mixed, but this works fine on its own. The flavor of these is very good; you get that strong matcha flavor (and color) that you can adjust with milk, and it's a great alternative to coffee in the afternoon for an energy boost without the bitterness or potential jitters/crash that can happen to some. Though pricey, it is ceremonial grade and completely made, start to finish, in Japan. Read more

I’ve been getting into matcha lately, and I decided to try this one out. Right off the bat, the individual sticks are super handy. I'm used to matcha coming in tins, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I love that I don't have to worry about the powder going bad from being exposed to air. Each packet is 2 grams, which makes it easy to grab and go, whether I'm at home or heading to the office. No more messy powder spills on the counter, which sound silly, but I'm clumsy! When it comes to taste, this matcha really gets it right. It has a wonderful vibrant green color and a smooth, full-bodied flavor with very little bitterness. I noticed a strong, pleasant grassy and mild seaweed-like taste (without being salty), which I really enjoy, along with a good amount of umami. It does even have the slightest hint of a vanilla taste. I’ve been making iced matcha lattes by frothing a packet with a little warm water, then adding ice and milk. It dissolves really well, and the flavor is well-balanced and not too earthy. Overall, I'm really impressed with this matcha. While some might find the 2-gram packets a bit light for a richer latte and might prefer to use two, I find the flavor to be perfect for my daily drink. The convenience and the freshness of the individual packets are big selling points for me. It is on the pricier side, but for the authentic taste of matcha from Japan, and the sheer convenience, I think it's a worthwhile treat for any matcha lover out there. It gives me that great, sustained energy and focus without any of the coffee jitters. Read more

Authentic Japanese Matcha Powder: $63.99 for a 30-pouch bag at the time of review I've mentioned in other reviews that my wife and I are both big T fans. She especially loves Matcha so I tried to keep her well stocked with it. This particular package was intriguing because the Matcha is pre-portioned into little pouches that are good for taking with you on the go. *What I liked*: I'm happy to report that the Matcha powder itself is good. It makes a delicious cup of tea. It's also really nice and convenient that it is pre-portioned and you can just take a packet out without having to measure. *What I didn't like*: The price is a little on the higher side (you are paying for convenience). At over $60 for this package of (just over) 2oz., you're looking at about $30 an ounce. That's very high, even for an organic Matcha. *The Bottom Line:* Despite the poor value proposition due to the very high price tag, my wife really appreciated the convenience of taking these little pouches with her. They make nice Matcha and they slip into a purse easily. I’ll be deducting a single star due to cost, but these are still going to come in at four stars out of five. If you don't mind paying for it, the convenience is nice. We would not order them over again though, as we would prefer to source equally good but less expensive Matcha elsewhere. Read more

I am used to matchas coming in tins so I wasn't sure if this individually packed matcha would be good or not. Happy to report that I had no reason to be worried. This is great quality matcha and flies past every marker of quality that I subject my matchas to. For me good ceremonial grade matcha has great umami, an inviting aroma, vibrant green color, and dissolves well. It also has to have a good balance of astringency, bitterness, and whatever complexity is specific to the brand of matcha. This matcha is low bitterness and very slightly astringent making it very easy to drink. But it also has a good amount of umami and a wonderfully strong grassy/seaweed flavor which I love. There are plenty of ceremonial grade matchas that have complex nutty or floral flavors, but this matcha has a strong grassy/seaweed flavor upfront. On top of this it also has good umami making each sip feel full bodied and very satisfying. The individual wrapped amounts do limit exact portioning, but it actually helps make sure stored matcha goes bad slower. The shelf life of this matcha is probably longer than matcha in tins since stored matcha never touches the air at all until you open the packet. In terms of effect, great caffeine + L-theanine boost like all other matchas. Great sustained energy and focus boost with no jitters. Overall, great tasting and easy to enjoy ceremonial matcha. Definitely try it if you like the grassy flavors of matcha tea. Read more
