The Monitor was defective on arrival. I called Samsung to help troubleshoot. If I understood correctly, the SN did not show up in their records. The monitor has its own diagnostic and it didn't fix the problem. Also, with no HDMI cable plugged in the display showed the same black wide bar across the display. Read more
