I'm starting this review with a tip for iPhone users who are having trouble staying connected. Check the storage-saving settings on your phone. My phone had been set to offload apps I wasn't using and for some reason the Gear S app was being offloaded, even though it needs to run continuously (I guess) in the background. Once I turned the automatic offload feature OFF, I've had no trouble staying connected when I'm within range of my phone. After over 16 months, I still love this watch. Looks brand new. Works great. Battery life hasn't changed. I'm really hoping I can get another 16 months out of it before needing to replace. (Original Review) Just what I was looking for! I almost got discouraged after seeing many less-than-wonderful reviews for the Gear Sport, but as I read through them all I realized that most gripes about this watch just simply don't matter or apply to me. I have no desire to talk into my watch. Have no desire to input calories eaten. I don't need apps beyond the weather and stop watch. I'm perfectly happy with the watch faces that come standard; And since I have big hands for a woman, the size of the watch is exactly what I was looking for. I think Samsung developed this watch for people like me, who don't have to be uber-connected and who aren't super-serious about their athletic training. I use my phone for all that other stuff. I wanted a sporty, waterproof pedometer/activity tracker with phone notifications and a heart rate monitor. Done. It does those things perfectly. I have it paired with my iPhone 7 and it really works great. Read more

Hey I just got this today but I have to message the seller about this watch it's awesome and for such an affordable price!!! Ever since I lost my LG G watch 3 years ago during the start up of smart watches I have been dying to have something like that again but more advance for the times now. Not only does this watch have the protection of the band's with the holders on them in the event it pops it also came with a replacement band in the box. And for this being used I'd say it's in excellent condition and I don't say that lightly at all!!! The watch seems to work pretty well so far I have not taken it on expeditions yet or trios but I'm getting good vibes rite now. I've night Fitbit ultas for me and my girlfriend and those things were crap!!! The moment I had to update the software they bugged out and never turned on again so bad experience with Fitbit for sure. Ive tried cheap Walmart devices that just did not suit my needs it felt as though they were bottles of beer that just coated the wound of me not having what I really wanted in a wearable device. After much longing and waiting for the moment I'd buy another flagship smart watch I decided to purchase this a few days ago and I made the rite decision. This watch is awesome and everything that comes with it. Big SHOUT OUT to the seller for this watch yr awesome and thanx alot!!!! Read more

ETA 6mos later - the sensor on the watch stopped working. I contacted Samsung and they told me to send it in for repair, then claimed the warranty was voided because of water damage. It has a SWIMMING setting and water lock setting. The repair cost more than the watch itself. I am LIVID. And trying to find any recourse for this. *** I really like my smart watch - it syncs perfectly with my Samsung active phone. I wish it worked with other music streaming services other than Spotify - so I still bring my phone along when running for music. It's great to take to the gym and even swimming - which I've never been able to track beyond time and distance! I feel like the heart rate monitor tends to read a little high. I am disappointed that there aren't more options for colored bands that are made from Samsung - the off brands and "universal" bands just don't meet the mark. The other bands I tried gave me a rash after one day, must be made from a different material. Read more

Samsung's watch is great, but don't expect to get much out of the default built-in features. The app store is a cesspool of pay-apps that are complete garbage. The included watch band has raised lettering on the reverse side which rub against skin and caused a fungal infection on my wrist. To get the most out of this watch, I did the following: Used athlete's foot cream for 2 weeks without wearing the watch to eliminate the fungal rash. I bought a new watch band, one without the raised lettering on the back. I removed all third-party apps and only use official Samsung apps. And now I absolutely love the watch. I have an original Google Pixel and nearly all of the features work with my phone. This was a big concern I had while buying, and it is a non-issue now. I get about 2 days of battery before I decide to charge, which is pretty good for all the features the watch has. I have used it swimming with no issues. I have had an issue with the heartbeat sensor. It detects the heartbeat fine, it shows up as a perfect heartbeat on the screen, but it fails to detect the rate. Apparently this is a common issue and it's fixed by a restart of the watch every time it happens. The sleep tracking is amazing as well. Read more
