San Diego Hat Co Mens Sun Hat

This is the best sunhat for women with lots of hair or a bigger head because it is a Men's Hat and the proportions are larger than for a standard Women's hat, which also means you get a wider brim which provides more shade over your entire face and neck. I buy one or two every year and wear them almost every day, even in the pool. They can get wet with no problem. The brim gets a little floppy after plenty of wears and will need to be replaced with a new hat if you like a more rigid brim, which I do. I have 3 different ones I use right now; one for the pool, one for gardening, and one for going on errands that isn't stained or dirty. Very comfortable inside rim against the forehead, even when sweating buckets. Looks great. Feels great. Packed it flat for a vacation to Australia, had no problem with it packing. The only thing I noticed was that quality control is a little off and sometimes a hat will come with a pleated inside rim and this will make your forehead sore. If you get one of these, send it back because you won't wear it because it will hurt your head. I tried to contact the manufacturer about this problem, but got no response at all from them. The crown is not as tall as I had hoped, but it is adequate. The brim is very wide. It's almost too wide, even though I really wanted a wide brim. If the crown were deeper, the brim would be lower and then it might not feel too big. I'm going to try to stretch the crown and see if that helps the balance. This is the perfect oversized hat and is actually the second I purchased. I bought this off the rack last year and was obsessed with it, wearing it while gardening, kayaking everything. And then I lost it and have been searching for it ever since. This is the exact same hat I had and I am so glad to have it again. Perfect fit as I have a lot of hair and most hats don’t fit over it. The lanyard is also perfect for windy days, or to clip onto your bag. It also has metal rivets for the lanyard so you don’t have to worry about the hat pulling or tearing from adjusting the lanyard. It's a nice hat with good quality and has the large brim I wanted for use as a gardening hat. However, it is a thick and heavy hat. I guess I'll get used to it. HOWEVER, the head sizing is way off. I'm disappointed that I have to stuff filler in behind the elastic headband to get the hat to stay still on my head and not fall off. I'm not the kind of person that enjoys sending stuff back. I race cars so, over the years, I have worn many helmets. I know exactly how big my head is! This is not a 7-1/8 or even a 7-1/4. I'd guess it's a 7-1/2. Duly noted! Read more
