I love this product and I still give it a 5/5 but I don't like the smell as much as I liked Williams Mug shaving soap. Williams Mug being discontinued is what sparked me to research and discover this product. My wife actually found it for me! I love it! It's slightly more expensive, by weight, but it may actually offer superior value because the soap lasts a good bit longer. I don't think you need to use quite as much of it to get a good lather of the same texture, and that's a big plus for me. I'm not crazy about the smell. It's not exactly bad or off-putting, I just find I like it noticeably less than my old favorite two, Colgate, which was discontinued many years ago, and Williams Mug, which was discontinued only a few years back. If I had to comment about what I dislike about the smell, it's that the smell is stronger overall, and there is a cinnamon note in the aroma that I dislike. I tend to like soaps that smell more like soap, and I also like floral smells and smells iike tea or citrus. It's a minor complaint. If this brand offered different aromas I'd try out a different one. I'm a huge fan of it and will be a loyal customer when I run out...which is not going to be any time soon because this six-pack lasts a LONG time. Like I shave every day and it's been nearly a year and I am only now using up the first in the pack. Talk about excellent value!!! Read more
This is a good basic shaving soap at a very good price. The soap lathers well and retains a good foam with plenty of moisture and lucubration. The scent is very mild, so it won't clash with aftershaves or colognes. Read more

I have found my new shaving soap. Lathers up nicely and has a good scent. I was a Williams user for many years and have tried many different shaving soaps since it was discontinued. Scalpmaster is the best I have found. Read more
I used to purchase Williams shaving soap but they seem to have disappered in the last few years. I tried Prosoro which is very nice but also very expensive. I also tried some glicerine-based shave soaps but they really don't have the soapy texture I wanted. I took a small risk and purchased these Scalpmaster soaps and like them. I'm not sure of their composition - they look a lot like Williams but perhaps contain a small amount of glycerine. They foam up nicely and do a nice job of moisturing my beard for a nice leisurely shave every morning. Read more
My Dad was a barber for 35 years and I'm pretty picky about my shave products. First...No shaving soap should cost $20-40 a bar! That's outrageous! Of course the big name sellers of shaving soap that used to offer a good product at a reasonable price like Andrews and Hess are out of business. So if you like shave soap what do you do. I found this Scalpmaster brand to be a good bargain. A bar lasts a long time. The one thing I would fault it at is that the lather doesn't last very long. You just finish lathering your face and half way through the other side of your face is almost clear. In all my years of using Andrews or Hess this was never a problem. You can solve it by putting on a "finishing coat" of lather...Its not quite the same as the other no defunct brands but it will do over needing a second mortgage to buy some of the other brands. Also if you're not into scent like I am you'll find this has a very light almost non-existent smell...Really just a soap smell. If you're like me I'm not into some sort of fru-fru odor from my shave soap...I want a good close shave not cologne. If that's what you want this shave soap is for you. Read more
