The Exos line of drives is enterprise-rated, built for commercial environments and data centers. These drives are designed to handle constant 24/7 operation under heavy load, which sets them apart from standard consumer-grade hard drives that aren’t built for that kind of sustained use. If you can get an enterprise-grade drive like this for around the same price—or even a bit more—than a consumer drive, it’s absolutely worth it. On top of that, you get a 5-year warranty, compared to the typical 3-year warranty found on most consumer models. These are currently my go-to drives for storage, home servers, and NAS systems. They’re reliable, fast, and built to last. Highly recommended. Read more

In the age of solid states and M2 drives, it's easy to forget how slow SATA drives are. I got this because my computer had space for one, and I thought I could use it for storage of old projects and files I don't access much. It works well in that regard, but writing to it takes longer than I would like. That isn't a fault of the hard drive itself but of the technology of its time, so I'm not holding that against the product. I will say, that the hard drive is a bit noisy when it is in use, it is the loudest component in my entire new system now. Again, SATA Drive with moving parts, so it should be expected, so I'm not holding it against the product for being what it is. Read more

got this on sale in august for a pretty good price for use in my desktop pc that is mainly used for gaming and hoarding anime. i don't leave it on 24/7 nor do i run any servers or anything. the drive was not being used up to what it is classed for so i thought it would last along time andi enjoyed it for awhile when i received it. it could be a little noisy but didnt bother me, had alot of space and pretty decent speeds was looking forward to having a long run with it and filling it up decently some day. however, about 8 months later, suddenly out of no where and for no reason at all my drive started to rapidly lose all of its sectors and throw transfer errors. so i opened up HD Sentinel pro to see just how bad it was and it was in critical condition with and estimated remaining lifetime of 3 days. i removed the drive right away before it completely died as there was nothing important on there to backup. i had only got to put ~50gb worth of stuff on the drive in that 8 months so this was unexpected and a extremely disappointing first time experience with seagate and i don't think i will buy another seagate again... i am in the process of RMAing it, but i won't be able to trust anything that isn't backed up already on the replacement due to what happened but i hope that i have better luck with the next one. I purchased 12 of these units to go in a Synology array. I have used Seagate NAS drives into other arrays that are similar to this one. I reviewed the specifications very carefully, as these drives were less costly than the other smaller drives that are used previously. I am pleased to report these drives when in the array and booted right up with no errors. They have been in use for approximately a month now and they appear to perform flawlessly. I would definitely recommend these drives for your NAS operations Read more

Fantastic performance, 10.9TB capacity (expected with base 10 to base 2 conversion). The only issue is an extremely high pitched whine. I have a high sensitivity to high pitched noises and can usually hear things others can't. I can notice this from 10 feet away, but only when I'm specifically listening for it. Not a deal breaker for me since the performance and capacity are so good. This is why I'm deducting a star. I would recommend unless you have a sensitivity to high pitched noises. Even then, this may be something you would also hear on other 7200 rpm drive (this is my first). Solid drive. Read more

Received the drive in good condition, but beware, these are OEM and "new, old stock". No warranty beyond the Amazon return policy. The description says nothing about this and lists the drive as "new." The drive I received has a mfg date of August 2019. A check however did confirm the drive is indeed new. Power On Count = 1; operating hours = 0 Read more

I wanted some "larger" hard drives for my NAS and these were a very good (renewed) price. They have been in my Synology NAS working 24/7 for over four months now. They're comparable in speed to the Seagate Iron Wolf drives that I had before, but much larger. I'm thinking about buying a couple more for my Synology DS420+. Read more

I purchased 8 of the 12tb models from server part deals. They arrived in 2 days and all 8 had at least a 5 yr warranty. They are happily running in a raidz2 on zfs for my Plex server. A little expensive but worth it for the warranty and speed. As for noise.. I barely hear them unless I put my ear to the case. They run cool and quiet. Will be buying more! Read more
