My first external hard drive, and I love it. I plugged it into my Windows laptop and it started working right away. Lots of storage (2 TB) for me - I have consolidated many files stored across multiple flash drives, CDs, laptops, and DropBox, into one place. I didn't know how much I needed this till I bought it! Up until recently I've had good luck with Seagate drives but lately they've been failing me at a more frequent rate. Easy to use, but get two and double up your backups if that's how you're using them; I'm a photographer so I need to make sure I don't lose data, and I'm kinda losing faith in Seagate as of my recent experiences. I could not find a way to get ahold of anyone at Seagate. I reached out to Amazon to let them know the warranties are expired. For my purchase and loosing 7 years of data, Amazon offered me 30% off another device. Go figure? I should of been refunded the full amount or given credit for the full amount. BUYER BEWARE! I have had my Seagate external hard drive since May 2023 and have been satisfied up until now. This past week the cord end that directly connects to the hard drive seemed to be pulling an internal component out with the cord when I disconnected the cord. I ordered a new cord and now realize it’s not a problem with the cord but a problem with the hard drive cord connection point. I attached the new cord and now am unable to remove the cord without potentially damaging the hard drive connection site. I’m afraid to pull it to the point that I might damage the connection site and then not be able to use the hard drive and retrieve the data that’s been stored. The product description says “2 year rescue services” but I am unable to find out how to access this rescue service ……which seems to be something I need. Not much help to advertise that and then no information on how to obtain this service when needed. Read more
