I used this as a spice grinder, so can't speak to what it would do with coffee. I used it to make a pepper powder. There were many different type of peppers from non-spicy bell to the most spicy being habanero (beyond this peppers aren't about flavor, just how much heat). I dehydrated the peppers to start in my dehydrator. Then I blitzed small batches in a smaller food processor. Some almost got to powder, but enough was a bit more than large flake. But definitely smallish. This worked great to make powder. For a little less time I could have done a good flake size. I had no issues with overheating despite many small batches. I was outside due to spicy peppers and not wanting spicy cloud inside. (Wind and outdoor air flow helps disperse better, rather than lingering spicy indoors.) However this meant it was much cooler. It was 34-35F outside, so just above freezing. This likely helped cool motor to keep it working. Being able to throw the grinding parts and lids in the dishwasher was great! Made clean up way easier than having to do the cleaning by hand. For the money it was a great buy. Read more
I've been using this to grind through 8 pounds of dried red chili to make "crushed chili" for seasoning. It works well, and I appreciate the separate grinding chamber. It's not the cheapest grinder, but I'd say it's worth the added cost. You just push the button, take the outer casing off, then take the cap off. It's really easy to use, but it's two layers to take it apart. This is actually desirable with very hot little chilis - unless you like sneezing. The only drawback, and it's not worth deducting a point, is that the clear plastic will get marred and will eventually not serve the purpose of being able to see what you're grinding (again, important when working with hot chilis). I like the separate cup for easier cleaning. I also like how secure the lid is. It is sturdy and does not tip over easily. The color is a winter white rather than a bright white. It cleans well. You do have to hold down the button and the longer you grind, the finer your ground. I would prefer preset grindings with one touch. But, I will admit it is nice sometimes to have control over the grind. It is a bigger footprint then I was imagining. Overall. A good buy and the quality seems like it will last. The best features are the removable cup as it is a game changer with ease of cleaning as well as the tight seal. Read more
When I took the time to look at a big brand grinder I'd been using for years I noticed the plastic ring that anchored the blade was breaking off in small bits. I bought this coffee grinder because it had the least amount of visible plastic of all the grinders I considered. My routine is to grind a week's worth of beans and store the coffee in an airtight jar. It works well. This grinder is easy to use. Just don't overwork it. If you do, it will stop for a while until it cools down. Read more
No issues with this grinder. I have only used it for coffee and it works great. Course grinds, just a few grinds, fine grinds, hold that button down. Its nice that the container comes out as I grind and leave the container near the coffee maker. My coffee maker uses beans and accepts ground coffee so my wife keeps her beans in and I just use this!!! It is really easy to use, solid and convenient. Read more
This is a great grinder option for any of your kitchen needs. I bought it specifically for espresso bean grinding and I've been happy with the level of grind that I can get out of it. Everything is easy to use and very intuitive in terms of the design, cleaning is easy, and the overall appearance is nice looking to keep stored on the counter Read more
Works good, we use it to grind spices and seeds. So far we are happy with and we hope it will last. Quality is good, after all is just an electrical grinder. Very easy to clean and use. This is a second model from Shardor , the one for coffee still working good after more than one year, used 3 times a week. We hope the newer one will be the same. Without trying you don't know, so...try it. Read more
