Best solution to replace top layer of custom foot orthotics!
Here is what I used this for... I have a pair of custom foot orthotics that had a blue, neoprene-like top layer. Over time, the layer halfway peeled off so I just removed it completely. After doing so, the orthotic still worked but the newly exposed material was very rough and made it difficult to slide my socked foot into my shoe. After scouring the internet this was the best solution I could find. First, like another reviewer said - this is thin. This is just a covering. It is not meant to provide any cushioning. I could have done a better job applying these...I wasn't prepared for how sticky they were. Be careful and make sure you have a good plan because once you stick it down its not easily coming off. Also, you get just one sheet. I have size 11W orthotics and I could just barely cover both orthotics with one sheet. If I had to do this again I probably would buy two of these. After covering the orthotic, the actual material that makes contact with your foot is pretty shiny and slick. I would think it would be uncomfortable in bare feet but feels great with socks...foot slides right in and perfectly solved my problem. Take your time when peeling back and sticking it on, smoothing as you slowly go along. I rushed it and have a few ripples, but still works great since I don't feel them in my socks. Glad I found this but I wish they were less expensive. Cheaper than new orthotics, tho! Read more
