Simplehuman rocks
This is a very nice little step can. Perfect fit in my bathroom and looks really good. The coolest feature? Quiet close. Once you step off the pedal the lid closes slowly and silently. For some reason this feature isn't advertised on the amazon page so it was a nice surprise. The pedal is larger and wider than other cheap cans and feels sturdy. What I'm beginning to understand about simple human trash cans is that they are designed to be large enough to make use of the entire capacity of your liner. Other cheap cans I've used get full and once you take the liner out there is a lot more space that the liner could have held. Another surprise: It came with 10 of their simple human can liners (this one is code R) that fits the can perfectly. It is also designed to make use of plastic grocery bags with little handles on either side of the inside can that hold the bag loops in place. The fingerprint resistant finish is nice as well, it will be pretty hard for this can to look smudged and dirty. Here are a few minor cons: Your liner whether grocery bag or simple human liner will be visible. This isn't a big deal to me but slightly disappointing. The top of the inner can sits between the lid and the rest of the outside of the can. This is where the top of your liner or grocery bag goes around to hug the inner can. So, that bit of the liner will be visible. The inner can sitting on the rim has a purpose though, it is what the lid contacts when it closes so it is silent rather than clangy. Also, there isn't a hole or anything in the bottom of the can to let air escape when you put your liner in causing air pockets. This can easily be avoided if you lift part of the top of the liner as you space out the liner to fill up the interior of the can. Believe the reviews: Amazon's packaging of simple human cans is garbage. When I opened the box the can was sitting on its side with those airbags located on only one side, leaving the rest of it open to damage. Mine does have a very small dint in the corner of the lid but its not that noticeable. I got lucky, so, if you can, order from simple human direct as I've read they actually package it properly. I'm used to using grocery bags for my bathroom trashcan but now I'm leaning towards getting the simple human liners. For this can they are actual 'miniature' liners that fit the can just right. Thats a step up in quality over grocery bags that usually have holes in the bottom and are usually crinkly looking. Just like a regular sized liner it's got drawstrings which I feel is also better than tying the grocery bag loops together. You also (to my knowledge) won't find a liner this size at the store. They've even got a promotion going that gives you $5 off liners at their website if you register your product. So, for $7 I could get a 50 pack that would last me over a year (using one bag a week) and no longer have to hoard grocery bags in my pantry. Read more
