This has been a favorite of my grandson’s since I gave it to him. He is almost 3 years old. It’s never too early to start learning numbers and letters. I love the idea that the keys have numbers on them. He doesn’t quite get it yet, but he will. I say the number and then strike the key of that number. He just loves to bang away at it. Sometimes I turn on some music and we pretend to be playing along with whatever is playing on the radio. It’s actually a lot of fun for both of us. My 2.5 year old loves this classic! I have always been a fan of both of these brands (this item is a collaboration between Neurosmith and Small World Toys - both are longstanding, reputable brands in the educational toy world) and this little xylophone lives up to the expectations I had of it. I will say it's not perfectly in tune, but I didn't expect it to sound perfect anyway. The colors are great, and my toddler took to it immediately and understood what you were supposed to do with it! Bonus: it will also give her something to take to school for show and tell day when the letter is X :) Would make a great gift for a 2 year old - musically inclined or not! Read more
This toy is cute. It is pretty much what I was expecting. My grand daughter is 1. She is able to bang on the keys and they make a little music. She will learn to use the sticks and then it will make more music. It is cute. It’s made pretty well. It has to be light so that the baby is able to pick it up and move it around but it is still sturdy enough that it’s safe for a baby. I expect that this will last a long time. Obviously there aren’t any electrical or mechanical parts that are able to break. It is just the science that makes this instrument produce music. My grand daughter has a ball banging it and playing sounds with it. Read more
The media could not be loaded. Once my 2 year old son learned what a xylophone was, he’s been really interested in them so I had to get him this toy. Very colorful and nice little beginner musical toy for toddlers. It comes with the 2 yellow sticks and also a little storage holes on the right side for them. I don’t know much about music in detail to know if notes are out of tune or not as other reviews suggested but my son loves playing on this little xylophone. Definitely a daily toy for him at the moment. My son is 26 almost 27 months old and I would say this is the prime age for a toy like this. It would also make a great gift. Read more
Cute and sturdy xylophone. The keys aren't tuned well, though. Keys 1-4 sound good, 5 and 6 are badly out of tune, 7 and 8 are probably pretty close to being in tune but because the two keys preceding them are out of tune the notes at the end all sound strange when played in sequence. The toy as a whole is colorful and attractive and the body is well made. I like the size and design of this xylophone. For what it's worth, not that it matters with an out of tune instrument, rather than playing randomly, it's more fun to learn to play recognizable tunes so a music book would have been a nice thing to include. This might be an ok toy for babies who'll bang on it randomly for hand-eye coordination and cause-effect practice. This toy taught me that I want a child-friendly xylophone with a music book included as well as more keys so my child can both play around with it while young and learn to play music when older.
