This is an extremely simple nightlight. It has no controls and you cannot adjust it. You just plug it in and it does its thing. It is an LED light, so it uses little power. But since there is no on/off switch the unit technically is always on. The nightlight uses a photocell to activate the lighting and continually adjust the brightness. This means the darker the room gets, the brighter is the light which the nightlight emits. This seems to work fine, but can cause a bit of flickering if there is a competing light source near by. The nightlight will also sometimes come on dimly during a cloudy day or when a room is not so brightly lit. This is not a problem for me, but it could be annoying to some. You get two units, so they can be staged to provide additional coverage in a room or hallway. They are not exceedingly bright, so both units may be needed to see well enough to navigate in a small room after dark. I am using mine by a bathroom vanity and they illuminate the sink area adequately at night, but mainly provide atmosphere. I got the white light with a snowflake design which looks nice and cheerful. The light is 2 1/2” in diameter. Some nightlights I’ve had block the second plug on a standard wall outlet. But this nightlight is shaped so there is usually enough room to permit plugging in something with a non-bulky profile such as a lamp cord in the other outlet. Despite its limitations, for its inexpensive price and likely longevity, it is worth considering for use in non-critical areas where some light is needed for atmosphere when dark. Read more

I have been using these Puuraise smart plug in night lights in the hallway and bathroom, and the dusk to dawn sensor works exactly how you want. They automatically turn on when it gets dark and shut off in the morning, so you do not have to think about them. The butterfly design is subtle and cute, and the compact size does not block the second outlet, which is a big plus. The dimmable feature is really useful. I keep them lower in the hallway so they are not too bright at night, and bump them up a bit for the bathroom. Using these in a hallway and bathroom and they do exactly what they’re supposed to. The dusk-to-dawn sensor works as intended and turns on automatically when the lights go out. Brightness is right where a night light should be — enough to see where you’re going without lighting the place up. The warm light is easy on the eyes and the butterfly design is more decorative than I expected while still being practical. Plug-and-play, no setup, and they’ve been working consistently so far. These are definitely one of those products where you first think, “Well… you get what you pay for.” They’re inexpensive, and you can tell. When I opened the box, one of the covers had already popped off, but I just snapped it back on and it still worked fine. The plastic feels a bit on the cheap side, so I’m not sure how long these will last…but they do work, and honestly for the price, that’s a win. The value is actually great. I received a 2-pack…so the price per light is pretty hard to beat. The brightness is on the dimmer side, which I really like because I’m using one in the bathroom and one in our hallway. I do wish the light was a soft light versus a stark white but for the price I cant complain really. My house gets very dark at night, and anything brighter would be too harsh. This is just enough light to guide me without lighting up the whole house. They automatically turn on when it gets dark, which is perfect for what I need. I kind of wish they would stay off and then turned on when I walked by. At least now I won’t walk into walls on my late-night bathroom trips anymore… yes, that has happened!
