I purchased this plug for Christmas lights after almost an hour of trying to get it to set up. I’m giving up it requires you to download 100% Chinese TUYA smart life app you have to give this app full control of all of your devices in the house before it will allow you to add it as I tried to connect I could not get it to work with Alexa. Very poor functionality very poor value for my money horrible set up experience. I am returning it ASAP. Read more
I’ve been a longtime home automation user and already owned another smart outdoor plug from a few years ago. Compared to that one, this plug was incredibly easy to connect using the Smart Life app (though I’d ex[ect the Tuya app to work just as well since both are from Tuya). Like most smart devices, you enter discovery mode by holding down the button for about 5 seconds until the light flashes. In my case, I didn’t see the light flash—possibly because it was bright outside—but I did hear a clear click, and within seconds, the app detected the new device. I’ve noticed some reviews complaining about needing to download an app, but if you’re ready to get into home automation, you’ll find that many affordable Wi-Fi, Zigbee, and Z-Wave products use the same app. Plus, once the device is discovered through Smart Life, Alexa picks it up immediately without any extra setup. This smart outdoor plug was perfect for our non-smart LED holiday lights. I programmed it to turn on 20 minutes before sunset, knowing that some neighbors walk their dogs then. I love not having to constantly adjust a timer as the days get shorter. I’m happy to report that the plug has worked reliably, even through severe weather. During a recent big storm, it turned on exactly when expected every day without issue. Overall, I’m very pleased with this outdoor smart plug and would highly recommend it! Read more
Yet another app that must be downloaded and another account that must be created and another series of permissions that must be granted before Alexa can even integrate. Once connected, it appears to work fine. Read more
The app sucks, linking the app with Alexa is a hassle, and it just doesn’t work. I used it for Christmas lights, and it auto shuts off after 6 minutes every time I turn it on. Read more
It was super easy to connect to Tuya or Smartlife apps and be controlled by Alexa. I already have both of those apps installed so setup was a breeze. The quality of the plug is good. One of the best things is the 15Amp 1800 Watt capability. Thats quite a bit of power where I would feel comfortable even hooking up a 1500 watt heater. This was easy to add to my 'Decoration' group and routines to automatically turn on and off to save energy. Really easy to set up and a good product. Read more
