Reliable smart plugs for just $5 each

CustomerDecember 26, 2025

I picked these up to automate the lamps in my apartment so I could turn them off without getting out of b Pros: Works with Alexa and Google Assistant Uses the stable Smart Life app Very affordable Easy pairing Cons: Only works on 2.4GHz WiFi Feel a bit lightweight App Experience These plugs use the "Smart Life" app. If you have bought budget smart devices before, you likely already have this installed. It is surprisingly stable and works really well for an inexpensive product. I have not had any crashing or connection issues since setting them up. Voice Control Once linked, the integration with Alexa is smooth. I just ask to turn the lights on, and it happens instantly. It is super convenient for controlling hard-to-reach outlets behind couches or desks. Value At $9.99 for the pair, you are paying about $5 per plug. That is a great price for adding smart features to "dumb" appliances like fans, coffee makers, or holiday lights. Comparison These do exactly the same job as the name-brand plugs that cost $25, but you save a lot of money by going with this generic brand. Verdict Perfect for anyone starting their smart home on a budget who wants a system that actually works. One Realistic Downside These only work on 2.4GHz WiFi networks. If your router is set to 5GHz only, these will not connect, so you need to check your internet settings before buying. Read more

Works well both with google home voice control and also setting scheduled times in the app

MPhotoDecember 22, 2025

I got this for use on a fan and a lamp. The fan sits at my bedroom doorway helping blow cool living room air into my room since the vents in that room don't cool well. I didn't want or need the fan running 24/7 using electricity, so I attached this plug to it and in the app, set a schedule to turn on/off throughout the day/night. The app was easy to download and set up. The only downside to it for me was, when entering times, it doesn't list them in order. So instead of an easy to read listing like 2am, 4, 6, 8.. it scrambled them all around like 6, 2, 8, 4. Makes it a bit harder to skim through and read the time I had set. But other than that, it has been working well and the plug shuts off and turns on for the times I set. For the lamp, I wanted to be able to control a lamp in my living room via my Google Home Nest device with voice. It was easy to add the device to my google home app and has worked flawlessly to talk an tell it to turn on and off. It connected to my wifi without issues and it fit my outlets well, not too big. Good price for 2 plugs. Very happy with these. Read more

Unreliable Connection and Frustrating App Experience

SharpTakeDecember 28, 2025

This smart plug was a disappointment from the start. Setup was unnecessarily difficult, and the app struggled to consistently recognize the device even on a stable 2.4G Wi-Fi network. Pairing would fail repeatedly, and when it finally connected, the plug would randomly go offline without any clear reason. Voice control with Alexa and Google Assistant was equally unreliable. Commands often didn’t execute, or there was a long delay before anything happened, which defeats the purpose of a “smart” outlet. The scheduling and timer features were hit or miss, sometimes working one day and completely ignoring schedules the next. Build quality feels average at best, but the bigger issue is consistency. A smart plug needs to work every time without babysitting it through resets and re-pairing. With two units in the pack exhibiting the same issues, this appears more like a software and reliability problem than a one-off defect. Not worth the hassle. Read more

Wonderful smart plugs!

SprinklesJanuary 4, 2026

These plugs make life a little easier and that’s a win for me! I was worried about connectivity because I have tried similar products that would not connect and ended up being a complete nightmare! These were a completely different story and worked great! I downloaded the app and connected them to my WiFi with no issues at all. The app makes things super easy to control everything. You can even turn things on and off while you aren’t at home! They are small and not bulky at all. The plugs themselves are designed nicely and have a clean and sleek look to them. I really like being able to have my front room lights and bedroom lights on before I walk into my house, these just help me feel a little more secure and safe! I would definitely recommend these to anyone! Read more

These work wonderfully 😊👍🏻

I got these smart plugs mainly to make life a little easier, and honestly they’ve been doing exactly that. Setup was quick, the app was easy to figure out, and they connected to my WiFi without any hassle. I love being able to control things from my phone, especially when I forget to turn something off after leaving the house. They work smoothly with Alexa and Google Assistant, so voice control has been super convenient. I’ve been using them for my lamps and decor lights, and the timer and scheduling features are great for automating daily routines. They feel well made, don’t get hot, and handle everything I’ve plugged into them without any issues. They’re simple, reliable, and really handy if you want to add more smart technology to your home, or you're looking to dip your toes into smart home stuff for the first time without overcomplicating things.
