Over time, I have been additional devices to my smart home. I recently added this door/window sensor to the mix & overall, I've been happy with it. - Size - The sensor is MUCH bigger than I had anticipated. It is definitely the biggest of all of the door sensors that I have. Maybe that is good because a would-be intruder can see it & be discouraged? Or maybe it's frustrating, because I'd rather these sensors 'blend-in'. I do even have a few locations where I have/want sensors where I couldn't even use this one since it wouldn't fit. - Installation - I used the Tuya app (not SmartLife). Not for any other reason that I use the Tuya app for some of my other devices (and then import them into SmartThings). The instructions were okay-enough. In order to start the pairing process, but I had to figure out which was the 'reset' switch (short, round button - not the tall, skinny one), before I could get it to work. Once I figured that out, it paired pretty quickly. (In Tuya, Add Device / Sensors / Contact Sensor (WiFi)) Beyond that, the sensor seems to function as expected. When it is open, the Tuya app will quickly send a notification to my phone. In terms of quality, be careful with the 'on/off' switch (when the case is open). It is basically an overlay for the dipswitch (so you can turn it on/off when the case is closed), but when it is open, the switch can be removed (and actually fell off, before I had to find it & put it back on). The unit as a whole does feel a little more fragile than I'd like - ie. when trying to open the back of it (to insert the batteries), I struggled a little & was worried that I was going to break one of the clasps... but I didn't, so hopefully I'll be okay (until the next time that I need to change the batteries). - Batteries - this unit uses (2) AAA batteries. This probably accounts for it's large size, but at least that makes it easier/cheaper to replace batteries than some of my other units that use CR123 batteries (which are annoying to keep buying just for this) Overall, I'm happy with this unit & to recommend it to others. The switches work nicely once installed with the included adhesive bonding strips. This kit includes the 2 sensor pieces, 2 adhesive strips and instructions. The instructions are printed micro-small.. Even with good eyes, I had to take a picture with my phone to be able to read the instructions, but they are complete. Once the sensors were found and sync'd to the Smart Life App, they activated quickly, and I was able to use them to fire off other functions. After a month the battery in the sensors are still going on the fresh rechargeables I put in. A great sensor pair for the price.. Read more
I use many contact sensors with Home Assistant. Some are WiFi, like this Smart Door and Window Sensor from Jinvocloud, and some are Z-wave or Zigbee. This sensor paired easily with the SmartLife app that I already use on my Android phone. Once added, I reloaded the Tuya add-on in Home Assistant and this sensor showed up with the name that I gave it in SmartLife. The app responds well to the Open and Closed status within a second or two, so I give it good marks for its function. However, there are features that I am not impressed with. The housing of the sensor plastic and feels thin and cheap. My other sensors are also plastic, but they feel well made. Then you remove the back to insert the batteries (which were not included by the way), the little cover for the OFF/ON switch falls off since it is not captive. Make sure you do not lose this tiny piece or you will not be able to turn it on or off easily when the cover is in place. It takes two AAA batteries which is why the housing is so big, instead of one AAA or coin-type batteries like my other sensors. In summary, this sensor performs like it should and it pairs with the app easily, but for me, there are better sensors out there with better quality in the same price range. The value is even worse when you consider that no batteries are included. Read more

I installed this on a side door and it tracks activity consistently once aligned properly. Alerts arrive in real time and the tamper notification adds some reassurance. Integration with other smart devices is a nice feature. The downside is sensitivity to positioning if the pieces shift slightly it may not register correctly. Also you need separate batteries which aren’t included. Overall it’s functional but requires careful installation and compatible network settings. Read more
I love the idea of this sensor! We have had similar window/door sensors for years which made the loud screeching noise if opened (when the two contact points are separated). I really like that this sensor has an included app so I can get alerts on my phone. What did we do before phone apps? I can get alerted if I'm gone or even when I'm home! I like that it was easy to set up to our Wi-Fi. It runs on two AAA batteries and has an on/off button. The app even tells you when you need to change the batteries (though they are supposed to last for a year) and if the sensor is removed or detached! I especially like the fact that it can connect into our already existing Alexa. No tools were required to install it. It simply installs with two heavy-duty stickers that they have included. I appreciate the fact that you can use it in multiple different situations (pet door, front door, window, etc). We have two sons with autism. We have always used the sensor alarms in the past, but this has upped the game by making it a smart device so I can get alerts. At this price-point, I will definitely purchase more. This would be awesome on our porch package box, the mailbox, and even the inside of a safe! So many different ways to use this. Read more
