Pretty but wouldn’t pull a shot except for once. Overheats very easily and even with troubleshooting is not functional. Read more
Didn’t know how much I needed this upgrade to my coffee in the morning. Perfect introductory machine to espresso and stylistically looks great. Read more

I love it!! And easier than I thought to use. Read more

I bought this Smeg espresso machine from Williams-Sonoma almost two years ago. At first I was quite happy with the unit, although interestingly when I opened the box the "G" on the front branding had fallen off, and I had to glue it back on. Generally speaking I liked the simplicity of the machine and it made nice quality espresso for the price - it really met my needs, without having to deal with complexity of pressure gauges etc. There were four issues to note though. 1) The basket size used (51mm) is quite unusual and therefore has very limited options for experimenting with higher quality baskets like VST, to have some fun trying to produce better espresso. 2) I ran into problems with lower pressure after about 1.5 years since purchase (the problems might have been even earlier, but I started to notice after 1.5 years. I used some AI tools to help diagnose and after trying descaling and cleaning the shower mesh I saw that the rubber gasket was nicked/broken, so had to replace that with a silicon one. That might have helped but didn't solve the problem. 3) I tried replacing the OPV valve, again after some AI help, but that proved too problematic, so I had to contact Smeg Service. 4) Their service experience was pretty bad - I had to send two emails. I filled out their form, noting original purchase date of almost two years ago. They demanded original receipt, so I had to trek back to Williams-Sonoma and jump through hoops to get it, but then when I sent it to Smeg they then told me I'm out of warranty (was just one-year warranty) - I had already confirmed the purchase date, so they could have told me that without having to demand my receipt and have me trek back to the store. They just told me to get it repaired somewhere else. Instead I just ordered a new machine - a Rancilio Silvia, which I expect to be far more reliable. I don't think it's worth buying this Smeg and I'll avoid buying any of their other appliances - just not reliable enough and even though I'm handy - I wasn't able to fix whatever the issue was internally - their machine felt very difficult to open up and attempt any service on - not very modular. Any professional service is likely to run as much as $300. I'd prefer to just have a reliable machine that can last >10 years without having to deal with issues. Read more
Espresso machine doesn't have crema. Only regular coffee like you poured it out of a coffee pot... Read more
I got this machine and I was so excited to use it. But it didn’t meet my expectations. It is vibrating when it is making coffee and also making a very loud noise which is not a good thing in the morning. It doesn’t worth the price. Also if you want to buy this anyway don’t buy it from this seller at all. They are not professional at all, if you want the return it they force you to pay for return and it has been a month that I am waiting for my refund, I called Amazon couple times and they sent a message to the seller but still no response and no refund.
