The only downside of this product is that it switches off automatically when you apply too much pressure, but really, even though that can be annoying, it's helping you to save the overall life of the product (not breaking it or making it overheat) so it's a good thing. This massager does not have a strap(s) to hold it in place on my desk chair. The shiatsu portion rubs my backbone which is uncomfortable. It does not seem to fit my office chair correctly. When I use it, I have to place something under my lower legs and feet or I will fall forward out of my chair. I thought I would enjoy using it much more than I do.
