I got my puppy yesterday and this is, so far, the best thing I purchased. He wrestles with it and sleeps against it. He slept through the night which I totally did not expect. The toy is bigger than he is and that make the whole thing just that much cuter. I have a feeling I will be going through a lot of batteries but I think it's completely worth it. The toy is soft and so far has taken the little guys teeth with no tearing. I'll update further if he manages to rip it open or anything Update: No tearing and I did put in a hand warmer overnight to see how that worked. It made the toy warm enough to the touch to be comforting but not too hot. I'm not sure my puppy noticed or cared and I haven't done it since. He loves to wrestle with this and sleeps next to or on top of it whenever it's nap time. Update May 2017 -- He loves this toy, he still sleeps with it every night. It hasn't had a heartbeat or the warmer in years but it is still his go to sleep toy. It goes with him to boarding and on every trip. He still has the original stuffy though it doesn't have ears or eyes anymore. I had to wash it once due to an explosion in the crate, with a lot of bleach, and it fared very well. He wasn't sure about it for a few days as it didn't smell right anymore, but he soon fell in love with it again. Im very impressed with the quality as this has lasted three plus years of pretty constant mauling. Five Year Update: He still loves this toy. I keep considering getting a new one and swapping them out but it's held up surprisingly well. Seven Year Update: My neighbors got a puppy and she just cried the whole first night in the crate. I got her one of these and the difference is amazing. She hears the heartbeat and goes directly into her crate! I broke down and got my dog another one, even though this is a big pricey for the size of toy. He is in love. He has spent hours cuddling with this in the past two days. I put up a pic of the old one vs new one. I finally washed the old one and it's better, but he LOVES the new one. I was being sentimental as it was the toy I had with me when I picked him up from the breeder, but apparently he doesn't care. I will be getting more, possibly yearly, as he destroys them. Read more
This was a game-changer for our dog as a fresh puppy. If your puppy is adjusting to the kennel when you first get him, being away from his mom and siblings, you need this. The first night we brought our puppy home, he cried and cried all night in the kennel. We bought this for him the next couple nights and he was calm and slept. It took the stress and anxiety of being in a new place away from him. It even has a an insert that imitates a heart beat and you can warm it up so imitate a beating heart and warmth. This is a must for new puppies. I took a Snuggle Puppy with me when I picked up our labrador puppy at 7 weeks old. The breeder rubbed it on the mother's back a few times for us to capture her mother's scent and we were off for a two hour ride home. She slept the whole way home on top of her puppy and slept for 5 hours the first night with just a few whimpers at the half-way mark. The ride home and a new environment really wore her out. By the third night and every night since, both my puppy and I have gotten a good night's sleep (7 hours then 9+ hours)! I think the heart beat and heating pack, along with her mother's scent, made her transition to our house go so smoothly. Both the heating packs and heart beat worked as advertised. I never replaced the battery in the hearbeat but stopped using that after a week or so when I was confident her bedtime routine was solid. Now at 14 weeks, she will take the puppy out of her kennel to play with and most nightes uses it as a pillow. The snuggle puppy is well-constructed and shows no signs of wear and tear. The tail has been chewed on daily and is still there. I could have an easy puppy but would never bring home another puppy without a Snuggle Puppy. Our nighttime temperatures will be below zero this week so I will stick a heating pack in Snuggle Puppy to help keep our puppy comfortable. the item it’s self is good quality, it comes with a thing to have it heated and came with an insertable little heat to add a heart beat. it didn’t work for my dog but that’s not an issue with the product my dog is just super anxious. she also really tears into plush toys so if you know your dog destroys those i wouldn’t recommend this. the product it’s self is decent but isnt a guaranteed fix all Read more
This is the third time I have purchased a Snuggle Puppy. I have raised six puppies over the years and am currently raising my seventh, and I honestly wish I had found these sooner. I bought my first one for my Goldendoodle (who is now my 5-year-old service dog), and it really helped him settle down when he first came home. In fact, he still keeps it in his crate and sleeps with it every night! However, I will say that not every dog is the same. When I got one for my Border Collie, he wasn't interested in cuddling, he just wanted to destroy the poor thing, so I had to put it away. But my current puppy (a 13-week-old Standard Poodle) absolutely loves his. He tried to chew on it a little bit when he was 8 weeks old, but now he just sleeps right on top of it. I stopped using the heat packs a while ago, but I still turn on the heartbeat for him every night. In short: It is a wonderful tool for comforting a new puppy and helping them sleep. I was up every 2 hours with our new puppy the first night and listening to the whining and crying in his crate before bed, so I decided to order the Snuggle Puppy and it arrived the next day. Our puppy whined for 5 minutes until he rested his body on the Snuggle Puppy and feel asleep and slept for 4 hours the next night and 6 hours the following night.
