I have several bars of soap, shampoo, and conditioner now (I'm testing a variety so I can settle on a new set). A lot of reviews of shampoo/conditioner bars mentioned needing something like this to sit on, so I decided to give these a try. They work very well. They sit securely on the caddy rack, the bar sits securely on the pad, air circulates, drips are minimized. The pad is flat enough that I can (so far) balance the shampoo and conditioner bars on their edges to help them dry out even better. The "not elegant" in the title is because they are clearly cut from bigger pieces and the edges have gaps where the loops were severed, and overall it's just a tangled noodle mess. It's very functional and very plastic (in feel -- I know it's plant-based, which was one reason I chose it), without a lot of grace (maybe if I'd picked a colorful version I'd think differently on that). But I'll take function over looks most of the time, and I was happy enough with the first pair to order a second. Read more

These are good quality but expensive. I’ve gotten the same brand in the paper store for 3 I believe. Price may have changed because of the economy, but $15 is a bit steep. It is nice to be lazy and not have to go out to buy them though. They are just as thick as the ones I had bought in the past from some other brands as well. So that’s why I gave it a 4. Glad the material is safe and I’ll say less toxic because you don’t know if everything such as what they use to color it is safe. As for positive they have nice colors and it does hold soap well but does stain. I’d rinse each time before you shower. That I’m talking about my older ones I have same brand. Other brands did the same. Sorry for so much negativity but I’m being real. Read more

I make my own soaps and shampoo bars and every little bit of soap is precious to me. I had recently bought some slatted bamboo soap holders that I thought would be good for drainage (plus they looked nice), but they proved otherwise; the little strips of wood held onto a lot of moisture and thus made my soaps mushy, even with my lower percentage superfatted soaps. Unfortunately it took me a little while to figure out it was the soap holder that was causing my soaps to become mushy. I have two very little girls, full of curiosity and shenanigans, just like any other young child, who found great pleasure in squishing and scraping the mushy soap into different shapes. Well, those gloms of mushy soap from their scraping started going down the drain and eventually clogged it... I won't describe what was pulled out of the trap... it's too graphic. So, I looked into purchasing some soap savers. I didn't want to buy the kind made of PVC, since that type of plastic releases toxins, so I paid the extra price to purchase these plant based soap savers. They have definitely lived up to their name so far. They help my soaps dry out quickly between uses and have greatly reduced mushiness. They are sturdy, easy to clean, and fit snugly in my bamboo soap holder. Another random, unexpected plus was the scent ~ as soon as I cracked opened the package, the scent of peppermint and something else pleasant filled my room. The actual soap saver smells very nicely of peppermint. I had only purchased a pack of two to put at our sinks and was so happy with their performance, I went back on the Luxiny page today and bought a pack of three for stand alone soap rests in the shower and a cutesy two pack (one butterfly and one hibiscus flower) for my little girls. I can now safely say goodbye to any more mushy gloms of soap going down the drain and not have to deal with our drain clogging and the terror of another rotten soap monster coming out of the trap. :) UPDATE I ordered the three pack~ white, grey, black~ expecting the same great quality as the two whites I originally ordered, but as you can see from the photo, the grey was a little thinner and the black was totally compact and thin, only about half as thick as the white. Unfortunately this does affect the quality of the product, and I'm very disappointed. I also ordered a butterfly and flower soap saver for my girls and they are as thin and compact as the black soap saver. Those require extra cleaning, which isn't as easy since the fibers are so compact, and they don't have as much airflow, so my soaps get mushy on them...especially on the flower soap saver. :( I would only give the colored soap savers a rating of 2.5 or so out of 5. I should try reaching out to the company... Read more
