I have tried lots of different high end matcha brands and this one blows the rest out of the water in terms of price and quality. It has excellent flavors of nuttiness, slight chocolate-y and little to no bitterness. I hope it comes back in stock as I would love to make it my staple go to drink brand for matcha lattes. decent matcha; less my preference but I think that's a matter of personal taste

This review is for a 30g package of ceremonial grade Japanese matcha powder. I have tried several different brands of ceremonial matcha, and I think I am very accustomed to a certain flavor profile. Compared to my "usual" matcha, I noticed a few things about the SOKYO matcha. First, the grind is just a little more coarse. Not to the point of being noticeably gritty, just that it sifts and mixes a little differently. It is a darker green color, and from what I understand, the tea leaves for matcha are grown in the shade so that they do not develop as much chlorophyll, so this greener color makes me think the leaves saw a little more sun. That might account for some of the deeper flavors - which I personally am less a fan of than my regular matcha, but I think it has more to do with preference than which matcha is superior. I won't hesitate to use this up, but perhaps I would try one of their other blends rather than reordering this specific one - but again, only because of taste preference, not because there is concern with the quality. One of my friends thinks all matcha tastes like "pond water" so your mileage may vary! Something review-readers should know about Vine reviews: Yes, we receive the product at no cost in exchange for an honest review, but 1) we do receive a tax form for “Non-Employee Compensation” reflecting taxable income based on the listed price of the items, and 2) I was instructed not to review items that I receive defective or damaged as it “may not be the fault of the seller/manufacturer” so ratings heavily influenced by Vine reviews may not account for a lack of product reliability.
