My dermatologist recommended Solbar 50 Sunscreen over 15 years ago. I have very light sensitive skin and have had a few bouts of basil cell skin cancer. I use the sunscreen as a moisturizer each morning after cleansing with Cera Ve cleanser. Love this sunscreen! Great protection from sun's rays. I visit my dermatologist once per year for a check up. Each time I ask her if there is a newer better product to prevent skin cancer. Her answer is always "no." Solbar is not usually found in my supermarkets, but the pharmacist will order it for you and it comes in a few days. I highly recomment this product!!! Read more

UPDATED REVIEW 2024: Finally, after 4 years of this otherwise-excellent sunblock having such a gritty grainy texture, this most recent order is a smooth lotion! It actually feels great going on, and washes off more easily. I don't know why the ones that I received from Amazon during the past few years were not like this, but am just glad that I no longer have to apply/wear a 'pilled' product on my face. I cannot use any product that has a fragrance and this sunblock is one of very very few that is truly fragrance free. Thanks for finally correcting the formula, Person & Covey!! Wish you had done it sooner but better late than never. :-D PREVIOUS REVIEW: I have been using this for several years and always order a fresh one every year in February/March for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, the product that I received as my March 2020 order has a manufacturing defect: The cream/lotion has a "grainy" texture that it never had before (If you have ever used an exfoliant lotion, that's how it feels....like tiny white 'beads' within the normally smooth product.) Unfortunately, I did not open the bottle until just after the 30 day return window had passed, and so am unable to return it to Amazon; I will be contacting the manufacturer instead. ** See below for edit! My mom has used this for over 10 years and since she owns a plant nursery and if very light skinned, it's imperative that she have excellent protection. I found this perfect and used this for 8 years with no issues. The past 2 years my skin became allergic to almost everything and I had to stop using it. It is also around that time that the packaging on this changed - I'm not sure if any ingredients, or quantity of ingredients were changed at that time but my eyes tear up terribly in the middle of the day with this now so I had to stop using it. The first time I started using this Sunscreen, it was prescribed by my physician; I had to purchase it through the pharmacist. Then, eventually, it went OTC, so it was much more accessible Then, slowly, it started disappearing from the stores; it became so difficult to find it anywhere, so I was happy that I was able to get it through Amazon. I like this product. I have a normal/dry skin so I use to apply it under my makeup. Now that cosmetics have sunscreen protection in them, I use it sparingly in areas that I have wrinkles to keep the area moist, and I found that my wrinkles are not so pronounced. Read more
