Great for final proofing of sourdough bread dough

Great proofing basket for sourdough bread. This basket when thoroughly floured with rice flour is great for the final sourdough proofing. The rice flour, rubbed into the spaces between the coils of wood, prevents the dough from sticking and allows the shaped loaf of dough to come out easily for placement in a loaf pan for baking. The ridges of the coil make nice shapes in the dough too. I use the cloth cover to protect the floured basket as it isn't necessary to wash the basket between uses. In fact it is best to not get it wet. I like the oval.shaped loaf so I use this basket more than another banner on I have for round loaves. Read more

Toss the Liner

The size is fine for a 500g bread flour loaf. I’d give the basket itself a 5 and the liner a 1. I washed it on delicate and hung to dry. On the 2nd washing it started coming apart, so I tossed it. I now flour a thin cloth napkin to line the bowl and that works fine. I find myself needing a 2nd basket and I like this one enough that I will probably buy another even though I know the liner won’t last. Read more
