I used this when wrapping brisket and for searing steaks. Its good to make fried potatoes with as well. One tub has lasted me for 6 months or so. Its expensive up front, but it lasts a long time. It has a great buttery flavor from the wonderful fatty cows 🐄. I will buy this product over other brands of tallow. Read more

I absolutely love the South Chicago Packing Wagyu Beef Tallow! At 42 ounces, it’s a generous and high-quality product that’s perfect for anyone following a paleo or keto lifestyle. The flavor is rich and clean, and it adds an incredible depth to my cooking—whether I’m frying, roasting, or sautéing. I also appreciate that it’s 100% pure Wagyu beef tallow with no additives. It has quickly become a staple in my kitchen for both cooking and adding healthy fats to meals. Highly recommend for anyone looking for premium, flavorful, and versatile tallow! Read more

I'm addicted to this beef tallow now and have just ordered my second container of it. It's got an amazing flavor and the price is very reasonable. It's replaced lard, butter, and olive oil in all of my cooking. My only complaint is one that's been mentioned in the reviews elsewhere - the packaging. When I received it, the container had evidently leaked a little and tallow had coated the outside of the carton, making it slippery and nasty, and dissolving the labeling to the point that it left black smears on my hands when I pulled it out of the shipping box. The carton was also flimsy to the point of being mushy. I bought a clear plastic sealable container, then transferred the tallow to it, and since then it's become a staple in my kitchen. I highly recommend this product under the proviso that you be careful when opening it and be ready to immediately transfer it to a better container. EDIT, July 25, 2025: I received my second bucket of tallow today and happily the top hadn't leaked during shipment this time. Unfortunately, the seal under the lid DID blow out as soon as I pulled the carton out of the shipping box. I was ready for it this time, though, and had my permanent container ready for the transfer. In thinking about it, I'm not surprised about the leak, since the product is packaged in Chicago at about 600' elevation and I live in the Colorado high country at 7,400'. Beef tallow evidently expands as the air pressure goes down. (You should see some of our rock-hard potato chip bags!) If you live where the air is actually thick enough to breath, you probably won't have this problem. I'm still in love with this product and I'm changing my rating from a four to a five based on my stupid altitude. Read more

This stuff is next level. Wagyu beef tallow has completely changed the way I cook — and I’m never going back. It’s rich, silky, and adds a depth of flavor that turns even basic meals into restaurant-worthy dishes. I’ve used it for frying eggs (crispy edges, perfect yolks), roasting vegetables (they come out caramelized and buttery), searing steaks (because obviously), and even in place of butter for mashed potatoes. Yes, that good. Everything gets this savory, umami kick without tasting greasy or heavy. It has a high smoke point, so it’s great for high-heat cooking, and a little goes a long way. Bonus: my kitchen smells like a steakhouse every time I use it. I keep a jar on the counter like it’s sacred. If you’re on the fence, just do it — your taste buds (and cast iron skillet) will thank you Read more

We started using tallow in place of oil and butter for cooking when I was making a lot of Briskets. We ordered this as a substitute. It has great flavor and reasonable in price. It is interesting that things do not really sticks to the pan when you use tallow. A little bit goes a long way. Read more

My husband uses this beef tallow for his carnivore diet and really likes it. It cooks cleanly, has a neutral flavor, and works well for everything he makes. No complaints. It is a solid, reliable fat source that does exactly what it should. Read more
