I love the material and the way the dress feels when I wear it, there is a lace up in the back which helped for further fitting which was great. Right out the bag the dress had some weight to it and was very slippery because of the material, very shiny smooth feel and ruching further added to the style of the dress. There is some stretch to it not a whole lot, and there are added length pieces on each side which is very pretty but can cause a little struggle for tripping but the slit accounts for it. The slit is pretty high in my opinion, I am 5”5 130-140 lbs, when fitting jeans I prefer a 28W/32L and the slit goes up to where my thigh bends near my hip as u would be wearing underwear right where it cuts into the hip is where it reaches for me at least. But if you hem it about half a hand size or a full hand size you should be alright, no biggie for a small fix nothing major. I ordered this dress for my daughter for prom, and it is FABULOUS! It is true to the product picture in all ways--cut, color, fabric, etc. She has about a 29-30.5 inch waistline, depending on how snugly we measure, and she's just shy of 5 feet tall. It fits her to perfection. The fabric itself doesn't really have any stretch or give to it, but the dress has a corset-like closure--it laces up in the back and there's enough of a fabric panel underneath that you have at least a couple of inches to work with. The dress has hidden boning to help give it shape. Though my daughter doesn't usually wear shapewear, she plans to with this dress because it is extremely form-fitting. The slit in the dress is quite high, but respectable. The area over that slit is actually a separate panel from the main train of the dress, but blends seamlessly. The dress is very long, so the bottom needs to be positioned for pictures, but you absolutely do not have to fear ordering this dress and getting a horror story of a dress that looks only remotely similar (which was my big fear in ordering, especially since you pay for shipping). We chose the standard shipping option and it took 18 days for the dress to arrive, as it was shipped from China. Although we weren't able to track it thru Amazon, we were able to track it online throughout the process.
