Incredible!
It doesn’t matter if you get the hawkbill blade, the wharncliffe, the original salt modified drop point...these are such great knives. Strong, easy to use back lock, totally ambidextrous, super lightweight, very easy one hand opening, great craftsmanship and quality, and an amazing steel! They come sharp and rust proof. I’ve used these in dirty, salty environments for years. Although they sometimes will stain after a lot of sweat (I mean a lot) and no care or cleaning at all (I mean no cleaning, not even wiping them), they do not seem to rust or pit. And staining is very minimal and I only experienced the stains on very, very old original H1 models. Plus, knives are tools and are meant for use and wear. Don’t worry if the finish isn’t perfect, who would want that anyway?! 😁 For the money, these are seriously great knives that are durable and solid. They will last years for sure! Also, this steel is not only rustproof, it is tough and will work harden. By tough, I mean the blade won’t chip easily and it can be torqued or twisted some without fear of breakage - not that I’d ever suggest doing that! But if you hit a staple or rock or nail by accident, it’s less likely to chip or experience serious damage. By work hardened I mean the more you sharpen this steel and the more abrasive materials you cut with this thing, the harder the edge will become and the longer it’ll stay sharp! I’m no expert, that’s my take from reading about it. Also, they say the serrated versions stay sharp FOREVER! The plain edge doesn’t perform like the serrated. Just buy it! Cut stuff with it.
