This set is clearly sourced from the same manufacturer as several similar listings on Amazon - the knives, coating, and even the packaging are nearly identical to another set I reviewed. That said, the addition of the steak knives makes this a more complete and useful bundle, which was my only real complaint about the other set. The knives themselves are sharp right out of the box and have stayed sharp through regular use. They’re lightweight but comfortable to hold, and the nonstick coating cuts smoothly through produce and meats. As before, I’m not entirely sure how durable the coating will be long-term, so I recommend handwashing only. The previous set claimed to be dishwasher safe, while this one does not - but it also doesn’t specifically recommend handwashing. Regardless, high-carbon stainless steel should always be washed by hand to avoid corrosion. And as with the other set, the handle fully encloses the tang, so there’s no indication of how far the steel extends into the grip. The various sizes provide a knife for most kitchen needs. The block is very attractive, but the nearly vertical design makes it slightly awkward to remove the knives if it’s placed under upper cabinets - there’s not a lot of clearance to pull the blades straight up. The utility scissors work fine for light tasks like packaging, but they’re not sturdy enough for poultry or heavier kitchen jobs. Overall, it’s a sharp, attractive set with a great presentation, and the included steak knives make it a better value than the versions without them. On the current sale, they are a pretty decent value. At the normal list price, I would probably shop around a bit. A few minor drawbacks, but it performs well for everyday kitchen use. Read more
