If you have a telescope with multiple pieces of gear that needs a USB connection, this is the most reliable hub I've found and continue to use. It is expensive, but rock-solid reliable. Several others I've tried failed to stay connected or connected equipment out of order, which is a disaster when specific port addresses are required for devices. This hub is connected to an indoor workstation 50 meters away, and performance has been very reliable. I replaced a faulty Anker 7-port hub with this one. I've had this StarTech a few months and it has been flawless. Never a disconnect or slowdown of speed writing to drives. No dropped devices. Just perfect. I can't recommend this device highly enough. It's a fairly big device though, and if you're looking for the best looking device, it might not be for you. If you don't mind it looking "industrial", and want something that just works, and works, this one fits the bill. Read more

I have always been pleases with all the Star Tech devices. They are build well usually in metal cases not cheap plastic. They customer service has always been first class for me. For my purposes I like the socket that allows a power supply other than the wall wart. I have a large 12 volt supply I send to it. A little pricey but you don't get quality for a cheap price. This USB 3.0 hub caused many of my devices that were connected to it to transfer data very slowly and exhibit very high input and output latency. While the physical build quality is fantastic, functionally, it didn't meet my needs. Read more
Great hub, everything I attached works faultlessly. Just one warning: Do not be surprised if you find 4 (four) power adapter wires with various plugs in the box: US (type B), UK(Type G, 3 pins), Australia (Type I, 2 pins), Europe (Type C, 2 pins). USB hubs are unsexy necessities - until, of course, they loose signal to your connected peripherals and make you very, very unhappy. So sad. But So GLAD I went the industrial strength route on this. When you replace a USB hub, you have to carefully enter the great wire forest next to your computer, and replug everything WITHOUT pulling or disturbing other wires. This unit is pricey, but for that money you won't have to enter that forest again for a LONG time. The power cords included fit several global power outlet standards. Generous power feed to ports.
