I saw something like this in a store but it sounded cheap. Decided to try this based on reviews and I'm glad I did. This one has lovely, clear tones and good sustain. When I gave it to my granddaughter, we were actually able to make some lovely music! I ended up buying a second one for a friend's son and it sounded just as good as the first one. A 2-yr old can make this sing, but keep an eye on them. You wouldn't want them running while holding the wooden sticks, and if the small mallet heads were to come off, they might present a choking hazard. We haven't had a problem with that--they seem sturdy enough--but again, I'd keep an eye on younger kids. (I'd definitely recommend these for any kids 3-4 yrs old or older.) Read more

Purchased as a "fun little gift for Dad" and turned out to be one of his favourite gifts! In person the drum is much more attractive than in the photos, but what is so amazing is the *tone* of the instrument. The notes it plays are much more pure and musical than I was anticipating. Sound is good - higher pitch than the bigger model. Could really use a better instruction and song book with it. Only ever heard of one song in it and that was Twinkle twinkle. Grandkids just want to use it to make noise! Not music. Regardless of my opinion, they love it! Read more
