Covered wastebasket is a must have for a house with a very curious cat. For a few years, I buy mostly metal step-on wastebaskets. However, I find the smaller metal wastebaskets not as good as the large one. First of all, some of them so small, they don't even hold enough tissues for one allergy attack. 2nd of all, the metal lids are too heavy for the small step-on, the steps sometimes broke in a few weeks since I step on them all day long. Lastly, the metal lids are all too heavy, they don't stay opened which makes frequently emptying plastic bags cumbersome. The Sterilite plastic step-on are not as good looking as the metal wastebaskets. However, I retired the few small metal ones after using these Sterilite for a few months. These take up almost the same footprint as the metal baskets, but the interiors are larger and hold more. The plastic cover on these are much lighter and less straining for the step-on. The cover stays open if opened all the way, which makes emptying the bag easier. The only cons I foresee is that plastic will absorbe odor down the road. But since I don't use these in the kitchen and dinning room, I think we'll be fine! I use these in the study and rooms where they don't need to look nice, just practical! Read more

Was looking for a "step-on" small garbage can with a liner that is easily cleaned/bleached nd these fit the need very well! The only minor complaint is that if you don't press the the foot right the container just tips slightly toward the floor instead of opening the top, but it works perfectly once you get the foot placement right. I ordered two for a community use and wound up ordering two more for my bathrooms. They appear to be very sturdy, but have only had for a fairly short time. You can find them in stores. Read more

Is it just because it's back to school/college that I cannot find these ANYWHERE anymore? I grabbed these on Amazon because I know I will need them eventually and don't want to be without. They are great for bathroom trash (no dog snouts in these due to the lids), also good for the outdoor doggy waste bags from our walks so they don't pollute our huge trash cans. Decent price. I've been searching for a small/medium step trash can with a cover for my bathrooms. I initially wanted a stainless steel or a colored one in beige/brown but, they seemed too small for the prices I've seen. I recently came across these Sterilite trash cans and saw they were on sale for a 2 pack in white. Although I didn't want white or black, I couldn't pass these up but, I wish other colors were available. They arrived in new condition. The white is actually not that bad if your fixtures are white. My fixtures are bisque. I love that the bin inside is removable for emptying. It also has holes on both ends to hold shopping bag handles which is great as there's no need to purchase garbage bags. This is a very nice little waste bucket. Sturdily made even though it's plastic. The foot step opener works very well and seems solid like it will last. I love the way you can tuck the top of a trash bag around the edge and it traps it in so the bag top doesn't keep falling in. I use it to put a day or two of scoopings from my cats litter box in and it the top seals so well that no odor comes out. And surprisingly it was two for such a low price!
